The fight is to never get to this situation again and to keep the rights people died for you to have.
You act like things are binary “comfort” vs “horrible life”. It’s not like Fascism grows slowly and then suddenly you are locked.

It’s also like saying our brains are just electric circuitry incorporated in meat. It’s true but it seems that consciousness emerges from this.
The fact that LLMs are next token predictors isn’t the interesting or impressive part. Actually my brain strictly is a black box predicting (or choosing) my next word/action/move… based on a complex existing context (my thoughts, the environment, my physical state, my senses…).
FWIW, I don’t believe LLMs are sentient, but I don’t think either that we have enough knowledge to rule it out.
I guess it's vibe coded and this field is anyway pretty redundant with Country.
Ironic that you cannot choose anything in this list if you are from France, like, the Daft Punks.
Windows 7 is nearer to Windows 95 than to Windows 11.
And yes, time flies.
And I was hugely comforted in this position when I learnt that "normal" people hear a fucking real voice in their head. I hear nothing and that's totally fine :D
I'd even say, is that even a problem ? If your website isn't a front end blob soup and just a relatively clean HTML file, your LLM is totally capable to handle it anyway.
And I'm still wondering myself which incentive do I have to serve my content to LLMs anyway.
What does that mean ? There are massive differences in EU between not only countries but even also regions of one country. How can you say that toilets are horrendous in 27 different countries with 27 different cultures ?
edit : and disclaimer, I live in France and I'm not proud of our public toilets because we are clearly amongst the bad ones (even if again it really depends on where you go, that's still too random to be acceptable) but my experience have been pretty positive in most other EU countries I visited.
Or more reasonably, the same old thing : use Linux, hack a little, why not learn programming basics. But learn to own your technology, fight against centralization of technology. The same old RMS story.
IDK where the tech industry is going, if there will be jobs anymore or not, but what I'm sure (and what have been the case for the last 10-15 years anyway) is that for most tech jobs, having good technical knowledge beyond the basics is pretty useless and will probably not be recognized.
If you can, stay a computer geek if that's your thing, but don't make it your career choice, the Eldorado is behind us.
I’m really afraid that it will totally destruct what is remaining of social tissue because why search for friends when you have an always on virtual (and pretty smart) friend h24 in your earbuds ?
I’m not blaming anyone for this outcome. I have myself argued with Claude more than once, and really not about code but about everyday things or nice facts of life I should rather have discussed with a friend.
The agent/harness is the sotware that leverage this "dumb" autocompletion engine to do useful things by sending the good input to the model and doing useful things with the output.
The adverse effects of psilocybin are well known and documented and we know for sure that it’s not physically dangerous.
For the trip part we mostly know how it work and how interact and it can be healing (or bad trip depending on the context).
Still you may have have digestive adverse effects, not because of poisoning but because the human gut cannot digest crude mushrooms.
But you will not be physically sick per se like you would be with a bacteria or a toxin, your immune system will not fight anything.
And a lot of the time, this random section was the more active of the whole forum but that was ok because it didn’t impact the other discussions.
But those were less engaging than social networks i guess (which hn is) so here we are.
Luckily, never have been. From thousands of kilometers away, Silicon Valley have always been a special place of its own, sometimes in a positive way, most of the times in a pretty awful way, but only people living in the Valley think they leave in the future.
The thing takes several seconds to start on my brand new gaming rig. Not insufferable but given its only usefulness is to list my games and start one, that's a lot.
To me it's the most amazing feature of an e-reader against the real book : you can read comfortably with 0 movement. You just mindlessly press the buttons that are already under your thumbs to navigate the book.
And the bonus is that it's clicky and instant, which, as strange as it sounds, makes it the only device that I own that make me feel it's magic. Which is a shame because in another timeline, all our tech should be well designed and magical-like.
