Why the old version?
pizzaiolo··on Greg Kroah-Hartman – Security in the LLM Age [video]
To be fair, we knew this from the beginning.
pizzaiolo··on What is the best shape of a city? Modelling effect of urban form on distance
If you're thinking in terms of optimizing car traffic there's a good chance this city will suck
pizzaiolo··on GrapheneOS – When an app is slow
Weirdly how? CoMaps seemingly works fine out of the box on my device
pizzaiolo··on Intellectuals Are Fucking Idiots
"Intellectuals are idiots, listen to me instead"
pizzaiolo··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
Look around HN, plenty of people buy the "LLMs are scary" IPO-boosting talking point
pizzaiolo··on Ideas on modernizing the open-source desktop
The was by far the most common type of comment I saw on this topic on Reddit. Do people think they'll be held at gunpoint?
pizzaiolo··on Are we going to use the same Desktop UX forever? [video]
We're lucky to have him in the open source community
pizzaiolo··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
Wake up, babe: https://forgejo.catcrafts.net/Catcrafts/fp6-img
pizzaiolo··on Giving up on smart rings
The only problem is that the data is woefully inaccurate, so what's even the point?
pizzaiolo··on There Is No AI (It's Just People) with Jaron Lanier
The program output being nondeterministic is not proof that it's autonomous
pizzaiolo··on How Trail of Bits helps verify the integrity of Signal chats
Bit of a positive piece amid a negative headline this week: https://cybernews.com/privacy/police-telegram-whatsapp-signa...
pizzaiolo··on Google will buy half the electricity from one of Finland's nuclear power plants
Enough to pay back the investments on a sensible timescale? Press X to doubt.
pizzaiolo··on GrapheneOS Overhauled Default Apps and Secure Clipboard
Graphene is clearly bullish on Android, but I have no idea why. The writing is on the wall, Google is slowly asphyxiating AOSP.
pizzaiolo··on "We Have to Assume That the Internet Will Go Offline in the Next Few Years"
Another AI salesman selling AI, nothing new here
pizzaiolo··on I think the military commissary's freezers were hacked
Stuxnet was a good example of that.
pizzaiolo··on Windows brings out the Rorschach test in everyone (2003)
That's how far back Windows needs to go to try to elicit some non-negative attention
pizzaiolo··on Google has stopped pushing Git tags for some Android source code
Any inconveniences with Linux phones are less annoying to me than what Google is doing to AOSP. My next phone will run postmarketOS.
pizzaiolo··on The Vietnam Binh Chau (Chau Tan) Late Tang Wreck
This was an interesting read, thanks for sharing.
pizzaiolo··on Fairphone is now officially available in the United States
Luca Weiss (Fairphone employee and pmOS dev) has confirmed on the wiki that the FP6 image also works on FP6+: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/index.php?title=Fairphone_%28G...
pizzaiolo··on Fairphone 6 and PostmarketOS working main camera
> No internal speakers or microphones are currently working. Media sound (not calls) is working if connecting a Bluetooth or USB audio device.

See the other blog posts by the same author in the story posted.[1] He's added support for these and other hardware parts for the FP6, currently being upstreamed directly to the Linux kernel.

pizzaiolo··on Fairphone 6 and PostmarketOS working main camera
AOSP is quickly becoming a dead end as Google tightens its grip on Android.
pizzaiolo··on Beef and dairy drive 41% of biodiversity damage linked to global farmland
Primarily? Maybe depending on where you are, but it's common for them to be fed hay with grains like soybeans.
pizzaiolo··on Beef and dairy drive 41% of biodiversity damage linked to global farmland
It's not exactly a closed loop, though. A lot of crops are grown using fossil fuel-derived fertilizer.
pizzaiolo··on 2027 memory capacity is reportedly sold out
It's not permanent. It's only this way until the bubble pops.
pizzaiolo··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
So, like the present
pizzaiolo··on How Americans View Capitalism, Socialism and Free Enterprise
The caveat for anyone outside of the United States is that what they call "socialism" is really just capitalism with a welfare state.
pizzaiolo··on GCC steering committee announces AI policy
It struck me as a bit odd. They care about copyright issues from LLM-generated code, except if it's a test case? That's a contradiction.
pizzaiolo··on Worse on Purpose
This goes well with https://consumerrights.wiki
pizzaiolo··on Fairphone 6 wide camera experimental Linux support
Another dev has been hard at work bringing Fairphone 6 Linux support for calls, audio, microphone, NFC, GPS, and IMU: https://blorp.piefed.zip/inbox/u/https%3A%2F%2Fani.social%2F...

It's now probably the most modern well-supported pmOS phone.
