> If you know Python, you can contribute to our web services, including Firefox Sync, or Firefox Accounts
Not quite recently (about 6-7 months ago), the syncserver got rewritten to Rust [0], while the Python codebase it's a bit stalled [1]. I guess Mozilla is going to switch to syncserver-rs soon, because they started implementation of Google Cloud Spanner and this looks like a green-light for future deployment.
> If you know Java, you can contribute to Firefox on Android, Firefox Focus for Android and Firefox for Fire TV.
There is new Firefox Preview on Android, which might disrupt the mobile browser market share soon (if it gets addons support). Some mozillian also worked on projects like Lockwise [2] or Firefox Notes [3] which are written in Kotlin, not Java.
Please, do update this article.

> Yes, but you can also push/pull from a filesystem location. To be able to push it, it is simpler to init the repo with `git init --bare`.
Personally, I have build my very own and simple solution to sync encrypted files over the Internet using git with git-remote that uses filesystem location. The implementation evolved over time but initial idea[0] was to combine restic, pass and git with simple scripts to pull/push the git-remote repo (located in /tmp/repos) to S3 bucket via restic that takes care of upload, deduplication and encryption. Thanks to restic I also don't care much if I'd commit to stale (outdated) master branch, because it uses snapshots and it's quite easy to navigate between them.

Also, I do use LaTeX (and derivatives) in almost in any case when I need to compose some document - it really helps to automatize many trivial things that were tiresome to do in MSO Word. However I know at least few people who tried LaTeX and just told me "Yuck!". I tried to recognize what is unique selling point, and all of those people told me it lacked the WYSIWYG mode and that they do not want to learn some language, so also ignore the LaTeX meta-code [0]. I feel I can't objectively say how steep learning curve is, because I just got used to declarative paradigm. LaTeX is not perfect, but I guess my requirements were different than my friends had, but I can't find an answer what really makes Word better than let's say LaTeX, LibreOffice/OpenOffice or other software in the same category? What leads us to decision to use Word not other software to let's say write thesis in it?
[0] As copperx mentioned, there is already LyX but it is far from being popular application.

Personally, as a person who used python in my programming job, I don't remember when for last time or even I have ever typed mentioned by you command to start a local server.

Would you mind explain me why there isn't anything (or only little) done in that area? I guess we could implement some assistive checks for input and output audio streams? What is blocking us to implement a "handshake" that will verify that all is fine? - let's say communicators will send a recorded sample "Hello World" message over wire and check the microphone, volume, noise etc. In my opinion the pattern how we resolve the "I can't hear you" problem is a repeatable checklist that we more or less confidently do, so why we can't implement it as some algorithm that takes care of those problems in automatic way?

Or if you are looking for self-hosted git servers:

Sadly, competitors like Xiaomi (IMHO, one among the worst manufacturers [1]), Nokia HMD Global, Huawei, Samsung, Apple and many others do not give many opportunities to Sony Mobile be profitable business. I wish they will improve marketing and sales channel.
[1] Annoying telemetry that you cannot opt-out and does not care if your Internet uses mobile data or Wi-Fi. Ridiculous permission requirements for apps, i.e. Weather requires permission to make a phone call (https://en.miui.com/thread-1851703-1-1.html) and Calendar to send SMS messages.
