Those are not interns at HyperIsland. Those are students. It is described in the press release.
http://internstore.com/press/press.php
There is no gap, HyperIsland well specifically the students of HyperIsland are touting that they are good enough such that agencies should come to them instead of the other way around and it is as easy as getting an app.
I was not able to see any hidden meaning of cheap / low value in there.
Ask HN, is it really an unbiased article when you take their responses, and not for example, students or recent graduates ?
It reads as a README file to get me started with Node.js which looks very similar to the original
So a bit more effort may need to go into making this useful for public knowledge. (The Community section is not needed in my opinion) This is just my idea based on how the jQuery wiki page was organized.

Notice how it actually explains the examples in more than one line. Again this is all observation.
Must an engineer (CS or EE) be on the team? Does the engineer have to be a student?
EE stands for Electrical Engineer or does that encompass SE and CE as well ?Also the older groups have good backings (alumni, club owners/promoters, student fundraisers)... definitely no need to cut corners like that for delayed cheques.
Student Clubs' Stores (http://www.havenbooks.ca/) are more likely to buy used text books.

> We believe it is not in the best interest of the consumers, merchants and overall payment industry to publish the details of product designs describing potential attacks however remote those might be. Even if these attacks are difficult to be accomplished it gives the bad guys a leg up on research they would not have to do and encourages bad behavior.

The related discussion from ramchip (though a great read) is only weakly related again to the first sentence. I could tell my girlfriend I love her very much or I can tell her every ounce of annoyance she gives to me, first comment versus what you actually want to impart to produce a constructive and stable relationship. I want to be thoughtful and sincere not quick to the punch (Nothing at all to do with with whether the medical condition is real or not because the morals and values are learned).
In case this derailed, I am talking about users who leave the first thing that came to mind and had no thought of the consequences since under anonymity.
Though this is different from users who intentionally impersonate others, never really understood that ... especially when no humour came from it.
- Focus on the input on load
- Detect location on load
- Get some auto-completion going (less than 3 clicks)
- Have the option for Celsius and Fahrenheit on the first page (You have a lot of space for it)
- Browser back functionality is not working after #links
- Keep the Sharing bar out the first time (no repeats)
- What does the 0228 #USFL0228 stand for in that link for Jacksonville NAS, FL ? (I am not familiar with US Zip Codes that well)

1 Upvoted Answer (+10) and 1 Upvoted Question (+5) or 1 Question Upvoted (3 times) (+15) or 3 Upvoted Questions (+15)
(It is actually 14, since you start off with 1 rep)
That is really not a lot of activity/work needed from an individual.
Most likely a next user would have seen the answer on rails and voted by now.
In 2005-2006 (I just started at McGill) when it was still within campuses it was like wild fire and when I watched the movie , I completely related and recalled sitting down with room-mates and class-mates browsing dozens of girls in the school. There were no games just mainly wall posts and photos. You cannot relate that to now ... it is just not equivalent. Privacy was the same back then as it is now... people are just more aware of it or they grew older and understood the effects it wil have with their jobs, lives etc.
> What we actually want to do is the bare minimum, just like any nineteen-year-old college boy who’d rather be doing something else, or nothing.
Yes Zadie Smith is right ... this was never meant for the old folks (no offense), when it started those are the only people there were 18-22 year old college students looking for the bare minimum.
Times are changing though and these kids start to grow up, thus changes to try to satisfy all. But to me it seems harder and harder to define.
Russia has Vkontakte Japan has Mixi
So hopefully the author finds what he is looking for. I would start by just picking up the phone and calling someone. That is my Dad's way of keeping up with his social network. After he finishes work everyday, he has a 5-10 convo with his old friends and co-workers. Sometimes he even visits... (It is a no-brainer but somehow these days people find this hard to do)
> 500 million sentient people entrapped in the recent careless thoughts of a Harvard sophomore
Is a 26 year old billionaire in charge of a 500 M network something someone would want to fail ? Are the 2000 or so employees that work there doing it for the vision of Zuckerburg? Is jealousy that strong ? I dont want it to fail. I want to be some percentage of whatever he is when I reach 26 not by personality but achievement. Why should I wait for maturity to achieve things, I want to fall, get back up, fall and fall some more if it means I reach closer to what he did (no matter how simple the idea was). It is as if he is not allowed to mature or people are still looking at him as a sophomore that sent those sms messages. He does get assistance from his COO Sheryl Sandberg http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/03/business/03face.html so maybe back in creation the site was a reflection of the immature sophomore but now it is something different.
Jobs was absent for a good bit in 2009 (the same year 3GS was released). I think that if Jobs is the visionary and leader everyone talks about then a few months without him cannot dent the Apple market and development. The company will still run, it is still running. It did it in 2009 and it can do it again in my opinion.
"20 in 20" sounds like you wanted a winning headline (which I guess is the case)
Please stop scolding the user for trying something out of the norm. It just means one will have to take a bit more effort to go back the first page of http://news.ycombinator.com/newest (click the more link... some more).
You can also tell the user that comments hold more value for a person than posting links.
It is like twitter for some people at first you try to mimic the big guys as fast and as abundant as possible but after a while you "get" the system.
Give the user some time o0. These guidelines are taken as advice no? After all this is just an experiment. Stop smothering the small guys, we are people too :)
I really do love it though. I wish I saw this a few days ago, just did my first mutt setup (took me a few hours, I am very slow). The contact autocompletion is nice. Is there a reason for one not being able to just to generate the whole contact list ?
It depends on how you look at the words hacker and tech savvy. Tech savvy these days is anyone with enough common sense to know their way around the computer to accomplish tasks, it is just a matter of digging and googling now. So everyone in this forum is "tech-savvy". So then it is not a moot point because some assume the title of hacker when they have not even took one step inside of bash (I have lurked in the background while I read people speak about hacker being a flexible term that can be applied anywhere but then it becomes one of those metaphors - He was able to put together that item as savvy as a hacker with his tools not a different set of meanings). Hacker is now used for every and anything so the value in the word is lost. 1337 has become a big joke and more of a game play slang. HackerNews (change ay yc spotlight, entrepreneurship, politics, web design freelancing, life advice, jobs, apple, microsoft , app development etc etc.) ,Household Hacker , Hacker (the Movie) all watered down and sometimes misused version of the original meaning.
If hackerly means using tools without needing to know the inner workings then I guess that is one man's way to put it, because you will want to remove the boring repetitive sections of your method and make it automated (not having to resolve the problem every time). An other way would be to open things and observe until it is understood how it works.
You can also think of the a graphic designer being offended every time someone says they know web/graphic design because they got a pirated version of Photoshop and Dreamweaver online.
Or when people "hack" in games, they are using software that exploited the system. He (the original coder) has accomplished his task maybe even learned something new (about the registry , about game mechanics) along the way... The teenager on the other hand who acquired the software ends up just trying to feel like he is better than everyone else when in fact he has unfair advantage. No real "superiority" there.
Useless battle or not, it is a title the author prefers to keep as clean as possible (even if that puts him in a elite set)
