porters are delicious beers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_%28beer%29) and porters (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_%28carrier%29 , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_%28railroad%29) help everyone get things done.
Specifically the development guide: https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Guide_Project

which the version of crypt(3) in glibc. It is almost the same as bcrypt. One difference is that it uses SHA256 or SHA512 instead of Blowfish. But that implementation has the same ability to expand the work factor like bcrypt.
So I'd say that the algorithm they're using is slow and is designed to be slow

Its from OpenBSD and implemented by the developers of the algorithm. It is what the Python/Ruby/Lisp/PHP etc. versions are derived from or wrap
0. Put your email in your profile so people can email you suggestions/work/jobs privately.
1. Get ANY locally available job just to get out of the house regularly and interact with people and start earning some $. Then start looking for something you like or enjoy etc. Do you have any skills people buy on ODesk or other places?
2. Start exercising daily. Don't need a gym membership to be effective. Google "body weight exercises."
3. Spend some time (an hour-ish doesn't have to be continuous) outside every day. It can be anything but you could walk dogs for a nearby humane shelter or whatever.
4. What area? I assume USA. How close to an "active" area? Or at least a not-dead-area? The local guys probably aren't against it but more likely have no idea how to start/be successful and don't want to look foolish or fail.
5. If you don't have on spend $5 and get an account on ask.metafilter.com and ask specific questions about your parents anonymously to a wider audience than HN.
6. Maybe this can give you some concrete ideas the local guys can understand: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2566026
I'd go back to Metro Bicycles (http://www.metrobicycles.com/) if I needed another bike in NYC. I bought a Dahon Speed D7 (http://us.dahon.com/bikes/1728/speed-d7) folding bike from them a few years ago. Its cheap ($500 so I didn't worry about it getting stolen), adjustable (so I could easily change riding positions as necessary/sore) and fit easily in the apartment I was living in at the time.
As for accessories get this: http://www.strava.com/ for geeking out and a U-lock with cable like this: http://www.amazon.com/Avenir-Standard-U-Lock-Cable-Lock/dp/B... for security. The cable makes the u-lock more useful and most lock companies will insure the bike theft if you are using their lock when its stolen up to a certion $ amount.
Don't worry about flats etc because there are enough shops around to fix them within an easy walking distance. All the gear you strap to the bike is just something you'll have to replace once it gets stolen (either the bike or just the stuff on it) or falls off while cruising through town.
Also JWZ has some solid recommendations here:

Run many ad tests but spend small amounts (less than $50) each time while you learn how to do it (analytics, AB tests) and what works (platform, content, offerings) and what changes help.
1. Like relying on an unpaid interns you limit your potential employee pool to the group of people who can either afford to work for free (no cash right now), have no better option than to work for free, or who have to work a second job to pay their bills.
2. Most of those people won't understand the probabilities of success and payout amounts to founders, employees, and investors under the variety of plausible financing and exit scenarios.
3. You didn't mention personal guarantees on the company's debts to the employees. How do you collateralize your obligations to the people? Are the employees retained under this plan sophisticated enough to understand the credit risk they're taking? Are there covenants or debt coverage ratios you're committed to maintain?
4. What happens when you fire someone (or they quit) before the fundraising?
Why not just make a loan to the company yourself and give them cash? 2nd mortgage or from friends and family... Seems cleaner.
To the OP:
The answer to your questions: 1. Yes. 2. Structured Practice 3. Don Juan Boot Camp (see below) 4. Don't settle for the life you have, strive for the life you want.
I recommend that you think of it as trying to learn to ride a bike. First its big wheels, then tricycles, then a bike with training wheels, then no training wheels, then a bike with gears and handbrakes, then a bike with aero bars or suspension, then some singletrack races, then some downhill races, then ...
You're going get sore muscles, wreck and skin your knees, and maybe bump you're elbows a few times but you don't want to ride on roads until you can handle everything on the bike like its second nature. Once you've got basic roads down you can move to busy roads, then city biking...
The Don Juan Boot Camp is a structured set of exercises that is designed to take a person from being a shut-in to a pick up artist in 8 weeks. Even if you don't want to become a pick up artist, I do think there is a lot of value in the first four weeks exercises which are basically designed to get a person out of their shell gracefully and safely while learning to talk with and interact with strangers. I'm not sure that it can make a person a pick up artist or if that's a thing to strive for but it does help meet girls and interact with strangers only because you go from talking to them 0 times per month to multiple times per day.
An easy way to start is start asking at least one clerk at every store you go in normally how their day is going and then ask a follow up question. Each time you visit. Be polite. Smile. They mostly have to be nice and polite to you and you should expect it to be safe, emotionally speaking.
Then start DJBC http://www.jbspencer.com/djb/Downloads/djbc.pdf and stop when you're interacting like you'd like.
I imagine there's a subset of each that should be moved from one to the other.
Also - with you mapping my social/business network as I create it I'd be concerned about your intended uses of the data you collect. Certainly you could have your own LinkedIn/Facebook style connection graph built pretty quickly. Then what?
