panzerboy··on ‘Austerity, That’s What I Know’: The Making of a Young U.K. Socialist
These people, they love to play communists, they don’t have a fucking clue how it actually is to live in a communist country, where there is no freedom of speech, or going on strikes.
panzerboy··on Missing Emirati princess 'planned escape for seven years'
What shocks me is how can a parent torture (or order somebody to torture) their own children? Don't they love them?
panzerboy··on Cryptocurrencies are collapsing
Probably those futures somebody was mentioning in another comment.
panzerboy··on Don't be addicted to losers
You could say he’s a ... loser.
panzerboy··on Ask HN: Resources to learn blockchain and smart contracts?
Can this course be also followed online? If yes, how? I can see the list of lectures, but not the actual contents.
panzerboy··on 832 TB – ZFS on Linux
He explained on Reddit that he has some support from Canonical as well.
panzerboy··on Java for beginners
I'm writing Java all day long and I love it.
panzerboy··on The best Linux distro for 2017
You do realize that's an April Fool's right?
panzerboy··on iPad 9.7‑inch
Umm ... no, it's not supported. The first two columns show the two Pro models and the third column is the new 9.7 model.

If you scroll down to "Compatible with Apple Pencil" you'll see that only the first two columns have the checkmark.

panzerboy··on Apple Store currently down
No. Maybe a new iMac. Definitely new iPads.
panzerboy··on Dear Microsoft [from Slack]
It's an Electron app.

Apple doing something in the cloud? Properly? Hahahahaha...
panzerboy··on FreeBSD 11.0 Now Available
Regarding the Vagrant image: I'm trying to use it on OSX (El Capitan) with the latest VirtualBox.

When I do vagrant up, I see the following error:

No base MAC address was specified. This is required for the NAT networking to work properly (and hence port forwarding, SSH, etc.). Specifying this MAC address is typically up to the box and box maintainer. Please contact the relevant person to solve this issue.

If I do vagrant up again, it seems to be working, but then I see a lot of:

default: Warning: Remote connection disconnect. Retrying...

and it eventually times out.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

And how exactly would they do that on your server?
panzerboy··on The Joy of Slow Computing
Can you please elaborate a bit on what you're using for your RSS reader and bookmarker? (and the bunch of other stuff :-)

Thanks!

panzerboy··on GitLab 7.8 release
5 developers and a few other non-dev people who just use the issues and wikis.
panzerboy··on GitLab 7.8 release
Unfortunately that's not an option for our (small) company. I'm already using gitlab.com for my own personal stuff, but for the company's, we have to stay on-premise.
panzerboy··on GitLab 7.8 release
Wish you would enable it for the CE version as well :-(
panzerboy··on An easy to use iOS floating drawer view controller
Disagree, they took the pull-to-refresh from Tweetie and integrated it into iOS because they thought (rightly so) that it makes sense.

If they would feel the same about the hamburger menu, then they'd do the same.

panzerboy··on Android One
Wow, thanks for this, I didn't even know it exists!!!
panzerboy··on Android One
cough iPhone 4S, released in 2011, can be upgraded to iOS 8 cough

Just sayin'

panzerboy··on First set of Android apps for ChromeOS
I read elsewhere that they bundle the runtime with the first app you download. Afterwards it should only be the Android app that's downloaded.
panzerboy··on First set of Android apps for ChromeOS
I wonder if Skype would work. I guess Microsoft has to agree with that (and I won't hold my breath on that one).
panzerboy··on First set of Android apps for ChromeOS
This is exactly my experience with Evernote. Although I've used it on the C720P with the touchscreen and it was a bit better. But the fonts look really small and the fact that you can't make it full screen is annoying.

But it is still better than the Evernote web app. Now the question is: given all this, is Evernote (and Duolingo, etc.) motivated to release a proper Chrome app or not anymore? My fear is that they are not, which is bad from Chromebooks.

panzerboy··on Google Employees Secretly Live on Campus to Avoid Paying Rent
Why secretly? I mean, Google should seriously offer this as a perk. In this way, you have your employees 100% of their time on campus.
panzerboy··on How Microsoft dragged its development practices into the 21st century
How do you know how the LLVM/Clang development is done inside Apple? Maybe they do use scrum, etc.
panzerboy··on Xamarin Acquires Petzold
Visual Studio is included in BizSpark so a lot of indie/small companies are using it (our startup included, 5 people all in all).

Would be nice if Xamarin offered something for BizSpark, as I know they have some offerings for people/companies with MSDN subscriptions.

panzerboy··on The desktop and the developer
I do the same but with Ansible.

There is a way of bringing it back, however the phone has to be rooted. See here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/xposed-module-brings-b...
