panzerboy··on OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally
Not native, but a webapp: https://github.com/rcarmo/piclaw
panzerboy··on What I love about Django
Good question, I don't know. I usually buy stuff online from a few big websites that are specific to my country.
panzerboy··on What I love about Django
I don't hate the guy (I don't know him personally so I cannot hate him), I just disagree with his opinions and I personally don't want to use anything that he makes or endorses. Easy as that.

I know that there are other people contributing to Rails, and that's their choice. Other people stopped contributing once DHH showed his true nature.

panzerboy··on What I love about Django
It's made by DHH.
panzerboy··on A startup's "tablet" gears up to take on Apple's iPad
Dude an investor in this startup or what?
panzerboy··on Java crashes on macOS 14.4 running on Apple Silicon
Original title of the article is “ Java users on macOS 14 running on Apple silicon systems should consider delaying the macOS 14.4 update”
panzerboy··on Ruby is better than Python for Unix-like system administration
I don't think so, I think it's just the fact that he's a non-native English speaker.

But then again, these days, who knows?

panzerboy··on Plasma Mobile joins the Plasma 6 megarelease with a new shell and apps
So can I run Android apps on a phone which runs plasma mobile?
panzerboy··on Apple is turning William Gibson's Neuromancer into a TV series
Apparently there is Chinese TV show version of the 3 Body Problem; a friend of mine who liked the book a lot watched it and said it's really good.

panzerboy··on Apple is turning William Gibson's Neuromancer into a TV series
I have to say I quite liked The Peripheral TV show, was kinda bummed that it got cancelled.

I liked the book as well.

panzerboy··on Apple announces changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the European Union
I’m wondering if these new regulations apply to Switzerland as well.
panzerboy··on Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use?
That sounds cool. Any chance you'll release that?
panzerboy··on Paperless-Ngx v2.0.0
In Settings I have "Use PDF viewer provided by the browser" checked and then see the screenshot:

panzerboy··on Development Containers
Yeah, I really hope JetBrains would adopt this spec as well. So far they seem to be going in another direction.
panzerboy··on Ask HN: How should one prepare for nuclear war nowadays?
Nothing. Accept your fate as it is. Living after such an event would be a hell anyways. So let the big random number generator in the sky decide for you.
panzerboy··on Java for Everything (2014)
If you like jshell, you should give jbang a try: https://www.jbang.dev/. It allows you to write “scripts” in Java and you can easily use any 3rd party library.
panzerboy··on Java Is Underhyped
C#
panzerboy··on The ecosystem of the Go programming language
Umm ... what exactly makes you say that?
panzerboy··on Show HN: git-peek – git repo to local editor instantly
Nice idea but I have an issue. I'm on the new MBP with the M1 and I have code-insiders installed as it runs natively.

So I tried the following:

git peek https://github.com/ylukem/pin-go -e code-insiders

It works, it downloads the repo, opens the editor but it immediately deletes it! Any idea how to fix this?

panzerboy··on Nntpit: Minimalist Reddit-to-NNTP gateway
I think most of them are used for piracy.
panzerboy··on VSCode, Dev Containers and Docker
Yeah, unfortunately the JetBrains IDEs don't really work with this workflow yet. I'm hoping one day they will ...
panzerboy··on VSCode, Dev Containers and Docker
You could always run something like Vim/Neovim directly in the container.

I, personally, hope that JetBrains comes up with something similar which will allow devs to use the same workflow with the JetBrains IDEs.

panzerboy··on Run Homebrew Natively on Apple Silicon Arm M1
You can move your photo library to an external SSD.
panzerboy··on Show HN: Editor Blending Markdown, Blocks and Wysiwyg
So is this some sort of a Notion clone?
panzerboy··on Is macOS Becoming Unmaintainable?
For email and word processing, it depends on what you've previously used. I would say that LibreOffice is quite all right for word processing. Also have a look at FreeOffice (https://www.freeoffice.com/en/) which aims for great compatibility with MS Office.

For an email client, I personally use the GMail web client nowadays, but I've used Thunderbird for a long time and it's fine (not as polished and good looking as Mail.app on MacOS though).

panzerboy··on Greatest Java apps
I guess that's the point of Graal VM, right?
panzerboy··on Ask HN: Is RSS dead?
Feedbin does it as well.
panzerboy··on Effect of Weight Loss on Obstructive Sleep Apnea: The Importance of Tongue Fat
I have had a lot of success with the Weight Watchers method. I want to lose around 18 kg and I lost already 12 since middle of October.
panzerboy··on E-bikes could be the electric revolution cities need
There are eBikes which can go up to 45km/h. For those wearing a helmet is mandatory. They also have number plates and you have to have a dedicated insurance.
panzerboy··on Ask HN: What programming language you use the most at work?
Java
