panjaro··on Ask HN: How to quit your day job with bills to pay, mouths to feed
Honestly you seem to be struck by the 'Startup' hype. You feel like you're falling behind in the race.

Forget about start-up. Enjoy your life. Be happy. You won't regret not doing startup when you turn 70. But you will certainly regret not enjoying your life.

Believe me. I was in your situation. You work, you get paid. Go home, spend life with joy / happiness.

And you know what, you can live without that startup. There are people who would do anything to get the comfortable job you have, good food you eat, warm bed you sleep on.

Please don't ruin your and hence your loved ones life just for the sake of technology hype.

panjaro··on Should I try to keep my startup alive or look for a job?
Does it make money?
panjaro··on How are you handling depression?
what was the movie name?
panjaro··on Ask HN: Would you move to Montana to work on a startup?
Show me the money ! :) Just kidding. For a person like me, it largely depends on if I really believe in the products you're making.
panjaro··on Why is english the language of programming?
Partially because of Colonization by British and additionally because they invested more on research/education.

I was born in a poor country and I had this question too. I blame our ancestors for not being open-minded and putting more value on religion / non-sense rules. After age 45, most of the people in my country get devoted to religion and spend most of the times going to temple/performing rituals and complaining/expecting others to support them. But here in the west, 45 isn't old. People work hard till old age and enjoy life.

panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
Thank you so much for taking time to write detailed reply.

I feel I have learned a lot changing companies - both technical as well as social skills. I would definitely want to be developing solutions. I have no problem doing day to day jobs as long as I'm am important part of the business. However, if I feel neglected then I ask questions on what would be the future like and what works are coming. In many occasions owners have no answers.

On top of that I have tried a lot of things now and am pretty sure I want to be a programmer/developer/engineer/whatever whose contribution is valued.

panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
Contracting would be nice but wouldn't it be stressful looking for work every time project is finished?
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
I would love to have answer to this question. If I stay in my current position doing support/changes for next 4-5 years, would that mean my chances of being hired be high?
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
Money has never been the factor for change. I have always wanted to be someone who contributes more and is an important part of the business rather than some guy writing code for them.
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
But Once hired they are put into a corner and company doesn't even answer their questions on future, career etc. I have seen a colleague at current office. She has been there for more than 5 years and believe it or not she doesn't even know what an ORM is. She is good at sql queries and she is busy all day with support work. If the company decides to let her go, It'll be very hard for her to get a job. That is what companies/founders/bosses don't care about and that's why people who worry about their time of life they're spending in the company to take some actions.

It's not all about company's money. It's about people's life.

panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
I don't get bored easily but If the company/boss doesn't show any sign of progress or doesn't explain what I'll be doing in next 6 months then it disappoints me. But not to the extent that I'd leave. Changing country and a desire to do a research degree were reasons for leaving 2 companies. After that I had no job and I took whatever came my way.
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
Freelancing was challenging and fun but I'd lean more towards permanent roles where I have more knowledge of business while developing solutions.
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
New place seems interesting as well as challenging. Provided that I'm close to 30 but not above I'm taking this chance. After all, it'll be another opportunity to learn even if I fail.
panjaro··on Ask HN: I've constantly changed companies. Would I be considered unreliable?
What surprises me is that when you get calls from Hiring Managers or recruiters, they talk so good of the employer and judge candidates from every perspective. But you start in the company and it's not even 50% of what recruiters describe.

So they call employed people, offer a wonderful opportunity at a wonderful company. Then they have no idea what takes work in there. If someone stays long, they get left behind in current tech trend. If you don't stay long, they question why. So, either way its employees fault.

panjaro··on Would you leave a stable corporate job to be first employee of a small company?
Only thing that scares me is the type of person the owner is. If he is typical strict non-technical and demanding boss then it'll be hell I guess
panjaro··on Would you leave a stable corporate job to be first employee of a small company?
Reason?
panjaro··on Would you leave a stable corporate job to be first employee of a small company?
It's an established company but not IT. Recently owner has decided to go more aggressively on the software/website/apps side of the company. There was one freelancer working on it but they want someone on site now as freelancer won't be able to continue full time.
panjaro··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
I'm thinking of starting a company which gives startup ideas. I have too many ideas but got no time to work on any of them !
panjaro··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
I agree ! Don't start a company just to start a company !
