pagade··on Still no consensus on testing private methods
One alternative/compromise not mentioned is to make the method 'protected'. This is usually a reasonable compromise in languages like Java. The test can access such method since it follow the same package hierarchy as the src.
pagade··on Firefox 94
Waiting for tab groups and/or multi line tabs (current add-ons suck).
pagade··on Ask HN: Best way to organize 100-200 emails/day in Outlook?
I had built a system that worked very well for me while I was using Outlook and of course I blogged about it: https://www.rockoder.com/2013/10/19/how-to-manage-emails-in-...

pagade··on Why I’m a sucker for pen and paper
This is the reason why it drives me nuts when Apple Book randomly chooses to shift the content of the pages of the eBook. Content that was on odd page number starts appearing on even page number. This is also the reason why I never change the font size.

(Please let me know if there is a way to disable this.)

pagade··on Chrome’s address bar will use https:// by default
Did anyone else thought: I want to be able to draw that kind of animation for architecture diagrams. No complex sequence diagrams, no numbering of the arrows, no confusion of arrow directions.

Sorry for the off-topic

pagade··on Ask HN: Anyone know any funny programming jokes?
I am surprised no one has posted this Stackoverflow link: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/184618/what-is-the-best-...

These are programming jokes 'in action'.

pagade··on Signal Fork with WhatsApp Migration
Mainly disposophobia.
pagade··on Design flaws of password managers
Why the down vote (honest question)? I would be eager to know if there are issues with this approach.
pagade··on Design flaws of password managers
I came up with what I call Passformula.

The idea is to create a one-time, well-defined formula to create a password from the name for the service/website domain you’re trying to log in. You would apply this formula each time you create an account on any website and later use the same formula to get the password at the time of the login.

No need to store passwords (for the majority of the cases) and works like a charm for me.

pagade··on Show HN: After 10 years my side project has hit $8k/mo in revenue

SICP and umb-scheme is how I learned as part of the university course with fairly advanced exercises.
pagade··on Show HN: Life Calendar – Your Life in Weeks
Something is not right. First week says:

1 years and 1 weeks old. Week 1 of your life
pagade··on Perseverance Toward Life Goals Can Fend Off Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorders
Nice analogy. Goals are important. But don't forget to enjoy the journey.
pagade··on Notable – A Markdown-based note-taking app
I installed the SyntaxFold package and customized the key binding. There needs to be 2 empty lines between sub/headings for folding to work.

It's not the prefect solution but good enough.

pagade··on Notable – A Markdown-based note-taking app
I tried the latest alpha. It works as expected. Thanks!
pagade··on Notable – A Markdown-based note-taking app
For me, ability to quickly expand/collapse headings/sub-headings is essential when I am working with markdown. After some effort got it working in Sublime Text.

Notable looks good, but not sure if it can be made to do this.

pagade··on Ask HN: What's the worst piece of software you use everyday?
iTunes, Google Sites.
pagade··on Ask HN: What's the worst piece of software you use everyday?
Google Chat (enterprise G Suite offering):

- No way to set status (essential in current remote work situation)

- No way to reorder the rooms

- No nested comments.

- Cannot mark conversation unread or have some way to remember to come back to the conversation later.

- If you lose your notification you are lost. Cannot figure out which room you were tagged in.

- Cannot message to self. This is not a big problem but a good to have.

pagade··on Notion for everyone
I use it for personal purpose. By data removable, I guess you mean right to be forgotten. Their https://zenkit.com/en/gdpr/ page provides the details.
pagade··on Notion for everyone
I am really surprised no one has mentioned https://zenkit.com/. Kanban - Wiki - Calendar - List - Mindmap - Hierarchy etc. It does those things very well.

pagade··on Bullshitters: Who Are They and What Do We Know about Their Lives? [pdf]
Your are the bullshitter in somebody else's story.

I mean nobody is 100% bullshitter 100% of the time. How do you know when and about what they are.

(I am genuinely interested in knowing)
