nuker··on Searx.be was shut down by hosting provider
I see, thanks. These should be separate hosting accounts or platforms, to reduce blast radius.
nuker··on Searx.be was shut down by hosting provider
This was my default search engine in Safari, the "new tab opens with" way.

Now it shows "Cloud provider terminated all my servers, service is down for the moment. Working on it. Sorry. Please use other instances on https://searx.space"

William Gibson! Lawyers are also execution branch in any corporate vassalage area. They carry the Licence, pocket Bible and FN Five-seven.

> But, honestly, they are too dependent on RH …

With enough support Rocky may grow by itself, without RH code. Like what is happening with OpenSearch and Elastic, and OPNsense and pfSense. And my gut feeling is that will happen.

> We have settled on making the effort to move to Debian for the compute nodes.

I’d donate to Rocky and stick with it, if it were my project.

4. Have the user terminated by IBM lawyers.
nuker··on Discovering that a Bluetooth car battery monitor is siphoning location data
If you don’t trust app’s developer just don’t use it, why fiddling with network access? Have you tried iOS Notes?
nuker··on Discovering that a Bluetooth car battery monitor is siphoning location data
Why not Apple?
nuker··on Discovering that a Bluetooth car battery monitor is siphoning location data
iOS has Background App Refresh setting, per app on/off.

I’d hate to lose waterproof feature on iPhone. For it’ll be dealbreaker.

nuker··on SMS phishers harvested phone numbers, shipment data from UPS tracking tool
I never give my phone number when filling order forms. Just an obvious non-number like 0777777777
nuker··on Alphabet selling Google Domains assets to Squarespace
Actually no, just buying and holding a domain is dead simple. Its what you do next is convoluted af :)
nuker··on DevOps Is Bullshit (2022)
I hate k8s lol, I tend to use AWS ECS.

My point is that today sysadmin skills are not enough. You need Python (boto3), APIGW and Lambda, years of Cloudformation and stuff. Does not hurt tho :)

nuker··on DevOps Is Bullshit (2022)
> A sysadmin was an infrastructure engineer that knew how to code to automate everything.

… on a metal server. In Bash.

nuker··on Alphabet selling Google Domains assets to Squarespace
> Is there a service that replaces Google Domains in simplicity and not pushing add-ons?

AWS

nuker··on Why Perl?
If the joke fits in one line, there is nothing to justify, no paragraphs.
nuker··on Why Perl?
What “$_%@" means for the love of god?
nuker··on Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer
Facetime: "Users wearing Vision Pro during a FaceTime call are reflected as a Persona — a digital representation of themselves created using Apple’s most advanced machine learning techniques — which reflects face and hand movements in real time. "

I want to see it. Can it make me pretty?

nuker··on Zano Raised Millions on Kickstarter and Left Most Backers with Nothing (2016)

nuker··on How much do you spend on subscriptions?
It just adds another subscription. Make it one-off buy?
nuker··on Imagine Google adding all emails data to its GPT4 model
... until its existence is threatened, by example by DoJ deciding to split it to many Baby Bells [0]

And what is Google's character? Honest question. I see an Ad company, tracking all internet users, even sensitive things like pregnancy [1], for profit (80% from showing ads).

PS: To clarify, I meant GPT4 for internal access. For Google lawyers, security, management, and likely for US Gov agencies. Definitely not public access.

nuker··on Imagine Google adding all emails data to its GPT4 model
But Google filters spam quite efficiently, and will unlikely to include it in the training set. I was more about real emails, emails like From: sarah.connor@gmail.com.
nuker··on What happened with ASUS routers this morning?

nuker··on What happened with ASUS routers this morning?

> open a ton of possibilities weakening even more the walled garden

It first will weaken security and privacy for common users. Walled garden is doing pretty good job at maintaining this.
