So I guess the point is, apparently persistence counts for something.
Would you rather have a society full of too many engineers or that of too many lawyers?
Does anyone else have that issue?
I think there are a ton of partiess that would be interested in developing a BSD modern GUI framework like Qt 5.
I enjoyed migrating foolishly unbacked up data from a laptop with a dead [Insert failed component that's not the drive] by popping the 2.5" drive into an external enclosure. Now I have to give my drive to somebody else? Or use iCloud.
Tough sell to me

Also, who did the marketing video for this? Need to add them to my rolodex
It's anachronistic I know, but I think the biggest issue with the OS was timing. If the FOSS movement had as much commercial maturity as today, I think the story of BeOS would be way different. It was pretty well placed at the time in terms of offering a solid media experience coupled with a POSIX compliant environment. I'm pretty sure it would be used like OS X is today by many devs, but without the hardware lock-in.
It was super fun to use BeOS, I just didn't have a workflow that matched it at the time.
