A lot of these states have backdoor ways of keeping out culturally incompatible folks from moving state to state by making mere victimless possession of certain items disproportionately linked to certain American cultures into felonies.
When you put USD backed stablecoin on exchange you're trusting
1) Exchange won't fail
2) Backers won't fail
3) US gov won't fail
Any single one fail and you're fucked. America decided dollars should float in the 70s, and most of the world followed. IMO sooner or later crypto will end up all floating because pegging relies on centralized points of failure and eventually people will tire of getting wiped out.
Why is it ok for 'spaulding to just shut down the argument as "nothing about justice requires that punishment be meted out in strict accordance with demographic breakdown" but suddenly a fallacy when I insert an actual demographic? I knew it would make people upset because well if we're talking about men then no defense is necessary, no woodruffw to the rescue with "affirming the consequent", but if black people cue up the folks with the torches.
He's been arrested.

Edit: SBF has been arrested by Bahaman authorities.
* Note per below the sacrificial offense would be a Bahaman offense while the superseding offense would be in US jurisdiction.
The violation wasn't money laundering the violation was not putting into place state mandated guards to impose AML compliance and the appropriate (arguably unconstitutional) searches.
Banks should have the presumption that collecting KYC information like addresses/names recklessly endangers the children of their clients by exposing their information to officers with guns who are known to harm children when serving warrants.
That one can transfer $50k worth of something like XMR, seemingly anonymously, is the entire point. You get your 4th amendment rights back.
So prove you're innocent.
Yeah no thanks. I hope crypto finds a way to totally squash warrantless search of your documents (AKA KYC) to engage in finance.
> if they had to use the traditional banking system there are multiple chokepoints which made it much harder to get and keep significant sums that way
And no one at all would be able to sneak money through banking system if the government just executed anyone using a bank!

I think Cody Wilson got put on the sex offender registry after he had sex with a 16 or 17 year old who presented a fake ID to a sugar daddy website, which was "verified" as being an 18 year old ID. So she verbally and via fake ID lied about being 18, consented, and even was acting in a "professional" capacity seeking out this activity. Cody was still convicted as a registered sex offender despite his best attempts to follow the of-age law and due diligence.
With strict liability, someone can look 18 and even show you an ID+passport and you can do mountains of due diligence but it is not a defense against the conviction. Pretty crazy we have people on the registry because of that IMO.
This breaks down because merely speaking is not sufficient to show someone is lying, just as breaking the law is not sufficient to show someone is dishonest. For instance, I can speak without dishonesty by telling the whole truth and you can break the law without dishonesty (say someone finds a pot seed on their property, and plants it -- illegal but not dishonest).
>Second, your claim is if Bill Gates has me on retainer to break him out of jail and I don't break him out of jail I go to jail?
Absolutely. It's conspiracy and this is a pretty well understood legal concept. The agreement to do the deed is the spoken part of the conspiracy and the physical taking of the money for it is the overt act needed to convict you.
note: this is for entertainment and not legal advice. I am not an attorney.
Personally I'm of the opinion that almost all crimes can be solved without jailtime. The vast majority can be solved with some sort of restitution and/or rehabilitative counseling and service after which they should be given back their horse and their gun and full rights of a citizen. A slight minority just line them up and end the problem (after conviction and appeals). Prison and a life-long record are impediments to rehabilitation and ultimately harm society.
Instead felony has devolved into things like "had a roach of weed in the wrong state."
See, I can make up quotes that contort what other people are saying too!
I realize this (imaginary) quote was well designed so you could just deflect any response as "that's not what I was saying." But it's pretty obvious your insidious statement equated the poorer people who might have less resources to offer a nation to take them in as 'lower-skilled thieves.' Taking the analogy even further, those with no money like many asylum seekers are 'no-skill thieves', which your analogy would cast aside as the most practical to exclude 'thieves.'
