notart666··on Infosys asked HR not to hire 'Indian-origin candidates', 'women with children'
The fact you believe it to only be relevant in marriage and politics goes to show the naivety of your understanding of how prevalent this 2000+ year caste system is. I'd go as far as calling it the oldest system of systemic slavery in the world. The fact it plays such a level to this day in the modern lives of individuals shows how the Indians have normalized it in their society and often directly bring it into our own. It even goes as far as impacting children, and starts from their. Who they know. Who they can interact with. Where they're accepted. At every step impacting and controlling their lives. To claim what you have said to trivialize it is kind of shocking to me.

I'm not from the cities and am well aware of many issues of rural life and suburbia.

I know it comes from the Angles of Angaland.
notart666··on Infosys asked HR not to hire 'Indian-origin candidates', 'women with children'
English is the simplest Latin based language. This has nothing to do with pronunciation but not even knowing basic words. Or how to communicate. Only a small percentage of Indians speak English and most statistics on it are heavily inflated. The Indian English Education system is the same one the Japanese and Koreans use. And they don't know English. The reality is it's like if you learned Spanish in middle school to highschool. That's the average English proficency. Most Indians do not interact with people outside their groups as most things are written in the languages they use. It's not Singapore or even close to it in English proficency trying to claim it is, is a lie.

Well Dr.Detroit. Where I'm from in the Midwest. Black people live predominately in homelessness because the white majority just refuses to hire them for jobs. As for many of them as well, they are underemployed even when they seek employment opportunities.

Many of them just can't speak English correctly. Only a small percentage of the individuals who speak English at a proficient level of those who do, they predominately come from very wealthy upper caste families and now you have a new problem. And well. When it comes to caste, many Indians simply believe it to not exist anymore in India because of how deeply engrained it is in their social classes they never notice it.

notart666··on Sauna use as a lifestyle practice to extend healthspan
This is in reference to the types of foods most commonly consumed by the average adult dailt in Japan and Korea. Dealing heavily in fried foods and high sodium content due to the regionality. It is similar to the Southern portion of the North American Diet the most but with less caloric content. Yet the same heart problems afflicting African Americans effect Koreans and Japanese the difference in survival rates is early detection and preventative measure. Which result in significantly higher life expectancies.
notart666··on Sauna use as a lifestyle practice to extend healthspan
Placebo effect is very real. Just as many people who believe in alternative medicines. An essential oil can not cure you of anything.
notart666··on Sauna use as a lifestyle practice to extend healthspan
Most likely. He has his own podcast as well. In regions of Japan and Korea and Nordic countries where Sauna and Spas are a normal part of life are. Japan and Korea both have similar diets to America in recent years and similar health issues because of their dining out cultures yet both have high life expectancies. As do normal wealthy nations without them. It's safe to say life expectancy has more to do with advancements in technology rather than a fun and relaxing experience. One of the things I dislike the most about it all is that saunas are just meant to be relaxing but the involvement of psuedo science in it has been concerning but is also due to it's association with chiropracty and the Chinese Alternative Medicine movement that has been adapted over into Korea and Japan. Unironically through religion and shamanism. Chiropracty is a dangerous pseudoscience though massages at certain levels may be harmless and fun but have no real medicinal value.
notart666··on Netflix is building its own game studio
Not really. It's usually the emphasis in many mobile games. Meaning the design the game specifically to play ads. Not the last thing they think of. It's part of the design pattern at many companies but especially mobile. Taking someone who's only experience is designing intricately paywalled games is not going to come out to a good game. Let's just hope he has other experience.
notart666··on What to read to become a better writer
That's not how that works. Writing is about practice, repetition and feedback. Improvement is gradual and lifelong to say that only certain kinds of people get better is a pretty bad take. Anyone can become competent at writing. It's just many do not have the prerequisite requirements to begin improving on certain parts and never learn of their deficencies or how to fix them.
notart666··on YouTube’s ‘dislike’ barely works according to new study on recommendations
Well at least it doesn't work like Instagrams where it doesn't do anything at all. I don't want to see hundreds of videos making videos of street vendors all doing the exact same thing.

Ah things like this are going to make European Americans deeply resent minorities in the tech space. If he was going to do it he shouldn't have mentioned it this way.

This is not true. There is an oversaturation of stem degrees as well. Over 90% of stem majors do not find a job in their field or STEM.

Actually there have been arguments that the standards are actually too low. And to prevent heart disease the score should be adjusted down by 3-5. In the categories.

I don't really see why this matters when Apple also installs backdoors into their phones and grants nation states the exploits to attack dissidents for any person or group that would need a feature like this, apple is the last company I'd trust to protect me from an authoritarian regime.
notart666··on Jackson’s water crisis: latest updates
I mean not really. You're expecting them to change infrastructure that's failed in a few days when the time involved in manual labor alone would take more than just a few days without even assessing the situation on why it failed and what's the best way to fix the solution.

Christmas itself has its roots in "pagan" tradition not Christian. More aptly Old Norse. During the conversion of Scandinavia is when this change occured. Though it appears in every cultural group similarly as the winter solstice which is not religious.
notart666··on The toll of dating app burnout
This is actually one of the most common self made stories people make up. It could be real but from what I've seen in the VC world it never is
notart666··on The toll of dating app burnout
Seeing how many followers his Twitter has and other metrics the 30 under 30 list is still as useless as I remember it being. I wonder how much money his parents had to spend to help him look like this. Even then he gives off the vibes of someone desperate it's probably why he uses it so frequently. Can't find any real form of connection with others yet doesn't understand his own problems and why women find him so unappealing. A real life click bait but that's what gets the most attention on these sites instead of any real form of human connection, though physical appearances do play a big role. So does a lot of things like proximity and well personality.
notart666··on Two Mexican drug cartels came to dominate America’s fentanyl supply
Not op. But that they lured addicted people of other substances and blackmailed them into creating their cartels like they all do. Building loyal "family members to ensure proper chains of command and heavily militarizing to deal with non complicit individuals and police.
notart666··on [dead]
Probably never. Companies are free to hire whoever they please. While hiring discrimination exists to a degree you can't compare if one person is less qualified than another based on gender or race or even background.
notart666··on Why are deep learning technologists so overconfident?
No the majority of researchers in the field who have been researching for decades already know deep learning isn't the correct way forward it's just the vocal minority claiming it not to be true for nothing more than purely financial interests.
notart666··on Ask HN: How can I come to peace with the years I wasted on pointless things?
If you enjoy something it is not wasted time. Listening to speakers like this and engaging in communities like this can cause negative feedback loops. Don't be frustrated about it. Just realized you are normal and a human being with your own unique circumstances. Don't judge yourself based on the backgrounds and privileges of others. If you have an interest in something meet new people and see if you can explore interests together. Sadly our current world doesn't allow for people to be able to do this outside exclusive groups. To say the least don't feel down about your situation. If you weren't part of these groups originally the likelyhood of you joining them is low. We as humans naturally tend to exclude newcomers.

GAN is in reference to the subfield this belongs to Generative Artificial Networks
notart666··on Adventure game graphics with DALL-E 2
It's not a small step to move from image generation to animation. In fact, it's quite contrare the complexity grows with length, even creating a short would be exponential in cost. GAN Networks cannot and will never be able to do this.
notart666··on The AI Art Apocalypse
A bit too speculative. Even though this can generate images at a rapid pace the creative space does not. Rapidly prototyping is not really that useful when it comes to things in concept design, nor does it fill the niche of making an entire scene. Realistically, it's only practical uses are in doing things most artists are not able to do well, such as defining characteristics of individuals to prop and assert generation which in the current scenario it is quite useless for but it isn't to condemn the entire GAN space it will likely never replace artists. Nor the human centered design.
notart666··on The AI Art Apocalypse
For most works using this as concept art would be deceptive and out right fraud in worse cases. The FCC doesn't pursue it so you'd probably be fine but this is not a replacement for an actual concept art unless you are working on a low quality or low poly game and even then this would be very misrepresentative. This has no real use case outside fraud.
