Right.. so you have no data to support your claims, understood.
nostalgiac··on Beyond Smart
> But women aren’t inventing, discovering or creating in proportion to their increased professional participation.

Do you have evidence to suport this? (Geniunely curious)

Why do you think that is the case? Just the fact that they are more likely to be part-time or not able to be fully committed into their field while also being a mother does not warrant them enough time/energy/x to achieve those breakthroughs?

nostalgiac··on Show HN: Safe Money – privacy-first finance tracker
I don't think any word will do it justice. I would spell out that it's done client-side and what information is/isn't uploaded.

I'd suggest being very cautious of that information you enjoy.

nostalgiac··on Why Google's $400 Pixel 3a convinced me to never again buy a $1000 smartphone
To be fair, if you've only had the phone for a single day it's a little too early to tell how well it's going to pay off :)

> Also, meat is a natural part of a healthy human diet. It's unrealistic to think that meat consumption is going to be viewed as tobacco.

I disagree.

nostalgiac··on Muscle memory discovery ends 'use it or lose it' dogma
There is still a huge lack of information regarding long term (or even short term) exogenous Testosterone usage - and again, it's definitely not without risks or unforeseen circumstances - this is for both low and high dosages.
nostalgiac··on Muscle memory discovery ends 'use it or lose it' dogma
Unfortunately it's not proven; nor is it completely risk-free.

But let's assume it was, I don't think ethics ever came into question when making substances illegal.

nostalgiac··on Introducing Project Mu
> As for microwave ovens and other appliances, if updating software is not a normal part of use of the device, then it is not a computer. In that case, I think the user need not take cognizance of whether the device contains a processor and software, or is built some other way. However, if it has an "update firmware" button, that means installing different software is a normal part of use, so it is a computer.

nostalgiac··on Valve creates new revenue sharing tiers to give big sellers a break
> Its an unfortunate system because steam isn't actually providing that much value

I have to heavily disagree with that.

Other than as you mentioned, the huge amount of eyeballs on all of their library content which you just won't get anywhere near close to. Along with people already having credit on their steam account so they can instantly buy a product without entering payment info.

There's also the distribution and update mechanisms which are such a huge win for the customer as well as developers.

I can also guarantee you, if Steam didn't exist, there would be other 'central store/repo's' that would absolutely be trying to enter this space. Providing an easy location for gamers looking to find new content. It's a win/win/win for all of Valve, Developers & Customers.

May I ask why you opted to take her off the meds after seeing such a huge benefit from them?

Typically servers are only under a reasonable workload for load 30% of the day. Resulting in that hardware being unused (wasted) the other 70%.
nostalgiac··on Why Is It Taking 20 Minutes to Mine This Bitcoin Block?
I've heard this a few times but thoroughly disagree.

Being able to explain/teach something to others is a very different skill to understanding it and isn't compulsory.

3-5 minutes is deal for strength training. So really it depends on your goals.
nostalgiac··on Training exercise boosts brain power, Johns Hopkins researchers say
Not entirely true. Once you're at a reasonable strength level simply switching muscle groups will not provide adequate rest for your CNS to perform your sets optimally.

nostalgiac··on Diet Drinks are not killing you
With all the artificial flavoring, there can end up being very little nutrients in the food. So if you're always having sweet but very low nutritional/caloric foods, there's a chance your body will subconsciously learn this.

> Science has led to many amazing things, but that doesn't mean it can realistically answer all questions.

Why? To me, that's what science IS. Providing the ability to answer any and all questions about our nature.

nostalgiac··on How much do hedge fund traders earn?
An Index fund can refer to one of the many many different types of weighted/diverse indexes that exist.

nostalgiac··on Ask HN: Should I create a clone of a popular SaaS with rock-bottom pricing?
Except selling shovels in a gold rush is a legitimate business that provides value.

A more accurate analogy for 99% of the online passive income people would be that they got rich selling maps for where gold is, except the maps are a complete fabrication.
