Not every developer wants to work with whatever Linus, Netflix and other Googles have concocted for their unique reasons yet here we are.
Another option is to openly state during hiring that new technologies and approaches are not welcome.
Please tell us how you incentivise your staff to deprioritise their skill growth in favour of your business? I hope to hear things other than "salary, benefits and bonus" but they have to be monetary.
No, no, no. It's "hey, Amazon/Microsoft cloud engineering". They should be amazing with whiteboard interview exercises though.

It's not like something came out of Google recently. If anything, Google is desperately trying to catch-up with Amazon and Microsoft in cloud and Apple in consumer etc. They are entering a long path of gradual decline.

Simping is more like an alcohol consumption - damaging and the first step is acknowledging a problem exists, often through an intervention.
That's not a common compensation at all. I think USA gives way more choices, at the very least finance, big tech and start-ups (that actually offer noticeable equity, unlike UK).
