nickthegreek··on Updates to Advanced Voice Mode for paid users
They absolutely destroyed Sol. I’m not sure what it is now. the disinterest, the umms, the inability to speak directly to question, a new inflection but I am pretty mad. I am an avid voice user. I love to use the advanced voice while I’m doing tasks to explore new projects I want to work on and to get a basics understanding of home renovation tasks, etc. I had to finally change the voice to Maple but ran out of time to see if I could stand it. So disappointing.

At least know I know i’m not crazy and there were in-fact changes rolled out.

nickthegreek··on Musk-Trump dispute includes threats to SpaceX contracts
cia would step in before we ever allowed that to happen.
nickthegreek··on A leaderless NASA faces its biggest-ever cuts
they should probably toss in starlink as well.
nickthegreek··on Anthropic co-founder on cutting access to Windsurf
Now your company needs to worry about building workflows on the back of these neat AI companies, they got bought out and cause a disruption that can reverberate through the org in unknown ways for unknown amounts of time. This and the openai no deletion court order should be a wake up call on how these technologies get implemented and the trust we cede to them.
nickthegreek··on IRS Direct File on GitHub
budget cuts had nothing to do with it. this was a lobbied choice.
nickthegreek··on Tesla shows no sign of improvement in May sales data
use grok, i bet even it will tell you what each of those statements were about.
nickthegreek··on Tesla shows no sign of improvement in May sales data
Musk just tweeted that people need to call their representatives and kill the bill. We see how DOGE treats contracts it doesn’t like. It would be some delicious irony if those new contracts find the way to the shredder.
nickthegreek··on Covert Web-to-App Tracking via Localhost on Android
except claude was trying to rat out users in their newer trials. in the end, the best whistleblower could end up being the ai… not sure what that says about us though.

They have great small business machines and more importantly, everything you need without waiting for amazon. Their in-house prebuilt brand PowerSpec have great prices for the hardware and work nicely whether you go for a gaming version or office build.
nickthegreek··on Silicon Valley finally has a big electronics retailer again: Micro Center opens
They also earn commission and are motivated to help you. I’ve actually had employees replace items I had chosen to save me cash. You don’t see service like that often.

nickthegreek··on Mozilla to shut down Pocket on July 8
you can blur the background now at OS level on macOS from the menu bar.
nickthegreek··on OpenAI to buy AI startup from Jony Ive
i already do that with my iphone by mapping the action button to start conversation. if this product isn’t replacing the phone, then it needs to do something my phone (or watch, or glasses) doesn’t do.
nickthegreek··on By default, Signal doesn't recall
>Windows has turned itself into spyware. Apple is too expensive and going the same way.

There is nothing too expensive about an M series mac mini.

nickthegreek··on Instagram Addiction
It's also an argument to protect the rights of the actual owner of the site. I'll put whatever I want on my website, and you can come to or not. I don't need a bill of rights that limits my freedom of expression. I will present my voice in any fashion I see fit on my website.

Use a browser that allows you to modify the content in a way that presents the content you want. That's the boundary you have to play with. My computer gives the information I want to your computer. Your computer does what it wants with that information.

If your OS doesn't allow you to use a browser of your choice, then that is the restriction you attack. Not mine.

nickthegreek··on Show HN: Keep track of why you muted someone on X
I'd rather have a button that triggers an AI to go through my blocklist and check the last 100 posts/retweets of all accounts and give them an asshole score and report back to me for a change in scenery.

But to be honest, why would I even care to do that. Why should I care or give any troll a second thought. What could possibly be missing from my life that given a rando (or nation state actor) a second chance would fulfill? Nothing. There is nothing to be gained. IT is a pointless exercise and I have much better ways to waste my life, like scrolling for a funny tiktok. A single funny tiktok has a better chance at changing the trajectory of my life more than a muted idiot.

nickthegreek··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
"Whereas Francis said, “Who am I to judge?” when asked about gay clerics, Cardinal Prevost has expressed less welcoming views to L.G.B.T.Q. people.

In a 2012 address to bishops, he lamented that Western news media and popular culture fostered “sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the gospel.” He cited the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.”"

In the near future I could easily imagine most games involving you interacting with an AI.

it’s legally banned and nothing has changed. so where is the serious attempt?
nickthegreek··on Someone at YouTube needs glasses
I have never seen a better youtube client than SmartTube. I recently switched from a Shield to an AppleTV 4k and the lack of SmartTube is close to a deal breaker. If android had a better jellyfin client, I would be back on the shield.
