nhatbui··on “The Apple Boogie“ 1987 Mac Promo Album Cassette Tape [video]
We’re making it out of Cupertino with this one.
nhatbui··on Emergence of a second law of thermodynamics in isolated quantum systems
So true, tale as old as time. Someone “raises doubts” based on partial knowledge of the subject, they go back and forth with someone, and then finally someone comes in with conversation-killing “what is consciousness anyways” type comment
nhatbui··on Why not just do simple C++ RAII in C?
I think OP meant discarding public/private constructs entirely, no protection, like in python.
nhatbui··on Things you're allowed to do (2020)
69th edition would be sacred
nhatbui··on Mummy – web server written in Nim that returns to the ancient ways of threads
Also in microservices land you could have the service doing its business logic but needing to support a server for metrics and/or debugging. Just piling on, this is good to study :)
nhatbui··on SQLite B-Tree Module
I would be interested in hearing more about how you deploy. I’m guessing the zip has the application(s) and SQLite is for configuration?
nhatbui··on Ask HN: Has anyone gone from software to physical engineering?
(I couldn’t help but look at your profile) And then what motivated your move from software to law?
nhatbui··on “I made an operating system UI within Unity”
I tried making the original Macintosh OS in Godot and my takeaway was it was really enjoyable to make UIs in a game engine. It would be interesting to see some “avant-garde” movement of making not only games but native apps using game engines.
nhatbui··on The Video Game Software Wizardry of Id (2002)
Oh that's my mistake. I thought by the description "left", it meant "yes, bottom to top but for each row, read left to right". Thanks!
nhatbui··on The Video Game Software Wizardry of Id (2002)
I was fairly young when these games came out but could someone confirm with me that the first collage of game screenshots are mirrored backwards? They say [bottom to top, left] but it looks like they have it flipped. Like Wolfenstein 3D (left), Hovertank (right) and Quake (left), Doom (right).
nhatbui··on What is “Open Recursion”?
Why does get/set need to see increment? They don't call increment...
nhatbui··on Tesla drops 7% after Goldman Sachs says the stock is worth $180
You can diversify and allocate funds to stocks/bonds in a way that suits your risk tolerance and financial goals.
nhatbui··on Show HN: Get Paid to Build Your Next Side Project
The day trader who picked up the $20, ecstatic from his arbitrage win, puts down on the ground a $100 hoping for larger gains.
nhatbui··on Revolution Pi – Industrial PC Based on Raspberry Pi
I saw that you mentioned running Hadoop/Spark on your cluster? Do you have any comments on that? I just made a 3 node RPi3 cluster and I have to admit, it's really slow. Like getting the spark Scala interpreter running takes about a minute before anything I type registers in the console. (NOte: this is my own cluster not a PicoCluster TM)
nhatbui··on I wrote the SQL query in 5 mins. Why does my engineer say it will take a month?
How much does all this cost you per month?
nhatbui··on Best Practices for ML Engineering from Google [pdf]
Great resource. I have a chrome extension http://compakt.nhatqbui.com where I naively added ML features but it was too inconsistent. I now understand the cautioned approach the guide advises on adding ML to a product.
nhatbui··on Show HN: A redesigned Wikipedia
I typed 'c++', hit 'Enter', clicked on second article titled 'c++', and got the article for the letter 'c'.
nhatbui··on Ask HN: What “old” programming languages will you still be using in 2017?
As I read through this thread, I'm wondering what the "new" programming languages are and specifically, which are being used in production.
nhatbui··on Closure Compiler in JavaScript
Thanks! I'm fairly new to JS. I introduced a new dependency on a node module and for some reason gulp-uglify isn't working on production mode. I'm going to give this a try.
nhatbui··on On 2016 Apple: What do “Pro” users want?
Anybody know of a laptop+OS combo that can give me the same fluid navigation of windows/workspaces as OS X?

That has always been the best feature for me: snappy, fast, fluid window/workspace navigation with the 3-finger swipe. Great for going back and forth between docs and the IDE (split-screen makes texts too small for my 13").

nhatbui··on NeuroEvolution – Flappy Bird
Generation 48. What about you guys?
nhatbui··on Whitestorm.js – Framework for developing 3D web apps with physics
What application can I use to generate those JSONs for the models?
nhatbui··on Advanced Data Structures
> If you haven't taken 6.854, you must have a strong understanding of algorithms at the undergraduate level, such as receiving an A in 6.046, having had a relevant UROP, involvement in computer competitions, etc.

Quite the pre-reqs...

nhatbui··on StackOverflow Importer – Import code from Stack Overflow as Python modules
This is awesome. But how is `time_delay` used?
nhatbui··on Richard Stallman: How I do my computing (2015)
> I skimmed documentation of Python after people told me it was fundamentally similar to Lisp. My conclusion is that that is not so. `read', `eval', and `print' are all missing in Python.

Maybe I'm getting lost in the semantics but doesn't Python have a REPL a la the interpreter?

nhatbui··on Ask HN: What cool development languages/tools changed your career?
I can't agree with this more. Coming from C/C++, I was hindered by worrying about memory management and building everything from scratch. Python and its standard library just allowed me to wrap my head around algorithms.
nhatbui··on Show HN: Wave function collapse algorithm
It's C#. I'm not familiar with it which is why I was surprised that after downloading Visual Studio Tools, I opened Developer Command Prompt, I did a `csc *.cs` and I was left with one nice executable, Main.exe.
nhatbui··on Insomnia 3.0 – A simple and beautiful REST API client
Hi, I definitely like the UI/UX of this over ARC. I haven't used Paw or Postman.

It sounds like you're taking suggestions so my only one would be configurations that make working with OAuth simpler like OAuth signature generation.

Great work!

nhatbui··on Feather: A Fast On-Disk Format for Data Frames for R and Python
Are you talking about a different type of MultiIndex? http://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/advanced.html
nhatbui··on Named tuple for C++
Is this only appropriate for the case where we want to iterate over all the elements? Don't we lose the O(1) access using a name? I'm assuming you're making 2 arrays.
