> “Choosing a physician is more complicated than choosing a good restaurant, and patients owe it to themselves to use the best available resources when making this important decision.”

And what are those resources?

I'm actually looking for a new PCP in NYC and there are hundreds or thousands of options. It feels like my best course of action is to just pick one at random.

Tldr: publisher pushed back release in favor of nook support. targeted wrong audience. Wasn't expecting the competition (millions of apps). Forced to make games he wasn't really interested in. Spent $200k and made $7k and decided to try again.

I would like to add it really does suck. It's definitely a passion but as an art form not all artists make money. Being able to wrap our passion for making games into a company is sort of like forming a band. If it falls apart your likely not going to remain friends.

This article reads a lot different if you look at the authors first.

Yes, I think the reason I didn't include skill levels was because at some point I saw a post talking about the uselessness that comes with some of that. It may have been a bit extreme but what does PHP [Ninja] or Ruby [Tadpole] really indicate?

Although [Beginner] is pretty different from [Expert] no matter what, the expectation of a beginner or expert may vary widely from person to person.

> Meant to simulate a town with a population of 35,000—about the size of Bennington, Vermont

because we all know how big Bennington is.

My understanding of this is you set up a monthly allowance with them and they save your surplus for the months where you don't make as much.

This doesn't seem like solving a problem, rather they are creating an illusion of solving a problem. Essentially they are parenting. Which some people might need. But what a better solution might be is to teach people to create a savings account and budget themselves. And not surprisingly there are plenty of apps that do just that.

yeah, they probably shouldn't be there. It's still solvable though.

Does anyone know what it actually costs a carrier to have you on roaming data? For example is AT&T being charged extra by the Canadian carrier for the data you use?

I'm looking at their headphones right now and shipping seems to be a huge problem. $20 for the headphones but ~$15 to ship to the US. Are any of their products sold in the US with cheaper shipping?

I call bullshit. I've gone much longer without sex than without food.

50% of snapchat users are under 18 [1]. which this video seems to clearly target (production style is fun, quirky, light hearted, even the actors are young). Yet they require a debit card and the use to be 18+. I guess they are hoping their young users stick with it for a few more years.

Make a sandwich to take to work.

Where are the download numbers?

please elaborate. what makes this superior to flappy bird?

Except maybe your barista happens to know a real estate agent and will get you an amazing deal on a new house. Something you might not have gotten if you didn't tell them...

seems like a bad title, suggests there is some proof iCloud was hacked while the article states it wasn't likely.

> While it’s highly unlikely to be a security issue with iCloud, the incident has served to remind us all of the issues around internet security in general.

how is the language barrier? do you speak decent vietnamese or can you get by with mostly english?

does anyone else fear there will be tons more duplicates on the app store of apps re-written in Swift? End users won't see a difference.

Obj-C / Cocoa uses very long variable names. Someone mentioned this in a post above with a link for example. It's very hard to stick to < 80.

            leftWall.physicsBody = [SKPhysicsBody bodyWithRectangleOfSize:CGSizeMake(100, wallHeight)];

close to 100 characters.

And the lack of customizable hotkeys really starts to show after a few uses. Other than that, great product!

I hope you've never used a mac in that case. Good luck finding a filepath with them. One of my biggest annoyances with mine right now.

This makes me wonder, just look at their app store searching. I think the consensus there is it's pretty awful right?

>But at the end of the day I really don’t need an app to tell me that I ran 7k in the morning, walked 3k to and from work and biked five minutes to meet a friend for lunch. There is literally no value being added to my life. By none of these. This is the obvious stuff. Everyone remembers their activity during the day and I honestly don’t care if my “Fitbit friend” Tobias walked five minutes less or more than me.

Exactly why I've yet to buy one or even try one.

Ones that aren't exact copies that offer little to no difference than a game that is #1 on the charts. Look at all the clones for 2048 now, they have the exact same colors / name with nothing different about them. At least flappy bird clones used different artwork for the most part.

Loved the idea of sliding and matching tiles but wanted something without numbers. Dumb it down even more they said. So I made a quick iOS version where you need to combine matching colors which then shatter for points.

I tried actually having different colors combine but there was no limit on which tiles could match without confusing players as to why something like red and cyan couldn't mix.
