navd··on Ask HN: Am I an Outlier?
I just go for something that works... I don't really care that much about specs. Macs seem to be the least stress causing laptops
navd··on Ask HN: How do I fast-track my software design skills?
Stop reading books and start making stuff
navd··on Ask HN: Where Are the Easy Jobs?
Go somewhere where you are valued my friend
navd··on Underdog Devs: supporting formerly incarcerated and disadvantaged aspiring devs
Yes but from the frame that the amount of diff problems you experience matters. Not your 10 years of experience solving 1 set of problems
navd··on NFT projects are just MLMs for tech elites
Huh? You would have to authenticate with Twitter using your crypto wallet to prove you own the wallet associated with the NFT. Twitter would know the contract addresses of the original NFT so even if you created your own smart contract with identical images it wouldn't be the original...
navd··on Ask HN: Learning How to Market Yourself
Go out of your way to show your work and progress regularly, just don't stay heads down all the time. Keep in constant communication with whoever would be interested in seeing it... bosses... users... etc
navd··on Remote work should be a permanent employee benefit
* In capitalism you have to create, nothing is given freely

Fixed your typo.

navd··on Solopreneurship
This was a nice read, glad everything has worked out for Flavio. Part of why this is possible is that there is a lot more leverage available for those that are solo nowadays. It's an exciting time for sure
navd··on Ask HN: What is the HN of Cryptocurrency?
You know people link to their blog posts and stuff right?
navd··on Ask HN: What is the HN of Cryptocurrency?
Pretty much Twitter at this point for me. There's too much pessimism on HN when it comes to crypto. I appreciate criticism but Twitter has all the deep thinkers
navd··on Launch YC S21: Meet the Batch, Thread #5
This is interesting. Any way to post the documents to be read publicly?
navd··on Ask HN: What is fair payment? How should employees be compensated?
Yes it's modern day slavery. What's stopping you from taking some time and allocating it to building something for yourself?
navd··on Tell HN: Stripe shut down my 4-year business with no explanation
You saved my project from certain death. Thank you
navd··on Tell HN: Stripe shut down my 4-year business with no explanation
Thank you Edwin. I really appreciate it!
navd··on Tell HN: Stripe shut down my 4-year business with no explanation
I'm currently running into this but the shutdown didn't occur until I was preparing for launch this week. I've gotten some success reaching out to them on Twitter but it's been a slow process convincing them that my business does not violate any of their T&C...

Please let me know if you have any other tips on resolving this in a fast manner...

navd··on Ask HN: Has anyone fully embraced an event-driven architecture?
Thank you for saying the things I didn't think I needed to elaborate on :-)
navd··on You Are Not Lazy or Undisciplined. You Have Internal Resistance
This sounds a little hand wavy and honestly just comes across as a lack of discipline. In my experience when you feel resistance you can get really far just sitting down and devoting a bit of time to doing the task at hand. It's hard and unmotivating at FIRST, but it tends to go away. If it doesn't just try again tomorrow. At least you got some work done.
navd··on Ask HN: Has anyone fully embraced an event-driven architecture?
Not sure if there are any communities. My general advice is to invest as much as possible in a good logging solution, traceability, and just general things to make debugging easier. Come up with a way to replay events easily. You'll thank yourself everyday a bug or issue pops up.
navd··on Blackrock is buying every single family house they can find
Honestly I see the opposite happening. A fresh wave of young distributed workers coming into urban centers.
navd··on El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender
It’s sad to see how pessimistic people here are against cryptos. Try flipping that perspective and see how this can benefit so many people in the world.
navd··on El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender
This is all currency though. The difference is that if you adopted Bitcoin you wouldn’t get poorer as time went on.
navd··on The end of the pandemic is near
Ask for a tilt table test. POTS usually takes a while to diagnose because tests are done to rule out fatal conditions.

I have POTS, you feel like shit a lot of the time but it’s very manageable.

It’s usually caused by a viral infection.

navd··on Covid-19 can damage hearts of some college athletes
I think you got downvoted on the basis that what you say is speculation... but I do not disagree and think there should be room for that in this context.

Confirmed cases will never be equal to total cases unless the virus affected everyone the same and had 100% mortality with distinctive causes i.e hemorrhaging.

The asymptomatic or mild case rate is so high that treating confirmed cases as anything other than a speculative baseline is hard for me to accept.

navd··on Interview with Paul Graham
Because then you incentivize people to seek status.
navd··on Supercomputer analysis of Covid-19 leads to new theory
Does this support nicotine as a therapeutic for covid?

It supposedly acts on the RAS and down regulates ace2

navd··on Why Go's Error Handling Is Awesome
Care to elaborate on why it was such an issue?
navd··on Ask HN: What weird or hard problems are you trying to solve?
I will say that I’m not really interested in talking with people I necessarily know. I want to talk to people who have well thought out arguments that are non obvious.

Take what you will from that and good luck.

navd··on Ask HN: If you could work remote where would you live?
I’d recommend checking out Piriapolis as well :-). When I was younger my parents had an apartment there and it’s a beautiful little beach town.
navd··on Outbreak of common colds at Antarctic base after 17 weeks of isolation (1973)
You’re right, but it helps to use some common sense here.

Is it possible? Absolutely. We don’t need to test feeding someone fast food sneezed on by an infected cook to find out either...

navd··on Ask HN: Cognitive behaviour therapy, tried and tested resources
If you're interested in philosophy, Stoicism might help. A lot of CBT is based off of stoic principles. In fact the book, "How to Think Like a Roman Emperor" goes through that history and teaches you some really useful CBT techniques.
