nachteilig··on Aziz Ansari releases DRM-free standup special for $5
Can anyone confirm the format? I'd like to toss him $5, but only if I can play it on my iPad.
nachteilig··on Apple has a gajillion dollars. Devs still have to pay $100.
Mac mini starts at $599. And no need to be hostile--he's making a legitimate point. By charging a relatively modest fee to use the store--the tools themselves are free, unlike things like VS--Apple is making sure people have minute skin in the game.
nachteilig··on The Unwelcome Mat - How Not to Attract Tourists
One will sometimes see this in Berlin, at both the airports and at monuments/the Reichstag etc. For some reason they don't come across as particularly menacing, though.
nachteilig··on [dead]
Seems pretty clear that this is just a rant written after a frustrating experience.

The thing is that Apple isn't "decaying" so much as it's changing focus. It has been very clear for a long while that they are now shifting toward more casual users and away from the things we on HN might prefer. Opening windows on reboot, as this guy complains about, is a pretty compelling feature for a novice user who just wants to get back to what they were doing.

And anyway, on modern macs with an ssd this isn't much of an issue.

nachteilig··on Xcode, GCC, and Homebrew
I don't understand this belief that Apple should support obsolete technology.

Lion is the _second_ version of OS X not to even run on PPC. Why should the developer tools they distribute for Lion support it at all?

nachteilig··on BitTorrent Live: Cheap, Real-Time P2P Video Streaming That Will Kill TV
I'm not sure why sensationalist headlines like this are necessary. As has been stated, the real problem is getting content. Lots of technologies exist that could have "killed" TV but haven't.
nachteilig··on Tor project needs volunteers to help Iranian users access the internet
speaking of this, does anyone have the html/images of the iranian block page? I collect them and would really appreciate it if someone was able to send that along. Or does the iranian firewall just drop the connection without the censorship notice?
nachteilig··on The FBI's files on Steve Jobs
This has a surprisingly (?) large number of errors for an FBI background check. They mistake his position at apple, and even how his name is spelled at several points.
nachteilig··on Adobe confirms: no Flash for Chrome on Android
To be honest, after I had used iPhone for a while I preferred the flash-less web so much that I also disabled the plugin on my computer. I haven't really missed it at all, and the web experience has been much better for me.
nachteilig··on Mega-man: The fast, fabulous, and fraudulent life of Kim Dotcom
Well, he rented that yacht. And maybe part of the reason he feels the needs to do those things is because he has lower self-esteem due to his weight?
nachteilig··on Mega-man: The fast, fabulous, and fraudulent life of Kim Dotcom
That's not his wife. It's a well-known german "model" called Janina Youssefian.
nachteilig··on How I Learnt enough Python/Django to be Dangerous in 1 Month
What exactly do "product guys" and "non technical" co-founders have to off to early-stage startups? That's the real mystery to me.
nachteilig··on Hacked memo leaked: Apple, Nokia, RIM supply backdoors for government?
Could you clarify this a bit? It seems to be contradictory.
nachteilig··on Be aware of "morality" clauses from domain registrars
It seems that Tucows doesn't have a clause like that, unless I'm reading this incorrectly.

http://www.opensrs.com/docs/contracts/exhibita.htm

nachteilig··on Be aware of "morality" clauses from domain registrars
My reading of this is not the same. The clause says "after thirty (30) days", which to me means they can cancel it any time after an initial 30 days.
nachteilig··on Show HN: I Created the Inverse of Angry Birds
The birds are a question of copyright, not trademark. And one doesn't lose that for failing to defend it.
nachteilig··on The Closed, Unfriendly World of Wikipedia
It seems like one of the biggest problems with Wikipedia is the admin class. They often adopt this "us vs them" bunker mentality like one discovers with a few bad police apples. This especially true with new and unregistered users.
nachteilig··on Doodle or Die - our "bizarrely addictive" Node Knockout game
I'm kind of impressed with how quickly I encountered dicks. I guess this is chat roulette 2.0. Really fun and impressive work otherwise though.
nachteilig··on You are not running out of time
Too bad you wouldn't know anything about that.
nachteilig··on You are not running out of time
That's sort of the theme of this site, no? We have reddit and such for this kind of writing.
nachteilig··on You are not running out of time
This seems really inappropriate for HN, to be honest with you. Please, with all due respect, leave this stuff for digg or reddit.
nachteilig··on Life lessons from the very wealthy
This really shouldn't be on HN, guys.
nachteilig··on The end of Facebook
It really seems that facebook may have overextended their good will with the public in repeatedly forcing privacy concessions. Only time will tell.

In any case, I'm not sure that this link isn't more than phishing for hits.

nachteilig··on Show HN: Gecko SMS, our (hopefully) revolutionary Android messaging app
Sure, but it doesn't seem like your company's offering solves any of these problems _well_. Smartphone solve this problem already by letting one send contact point (such as a location from the Maps app on iPhone) over mms.

For a majority of messages it seems like your product mostly eliminates remaining characters.

nachteilig··on Show HN: Gecko SMS, our (hopefully) revolutionary Android messaging app
How is this "revolutionary" other than it revolutionarily cuts down on the remaining characters to send?

And it's not really revolutionary in the way that BBM or iMessages is (i.e. taking sms away from the carriers).

nachteilig··on Why You Should Never Buy a Home Again
Someone has to say it: this site is full of bad writing and logical fallacies. Can we please stop linking to it?
nachteilig··on Steve Jobs' reality distortion takes its toll on truth
When did CNN start hiring Dvorak-style Apple trolls to generate traffic?
nachteilig··on RIM's reply to jammur's open letter
Your comment doesn't show his to be irrelevant at all. It's less clear what language someone hitting the belgian site would speak; at least Apple does the geolocation stuff automatically, which RIM doesn't. Nice try, though.
nachteilig··on Can you use PHP without frameworks nowadays?
I really only use templating and a DB class. Seems like one doesn't need much more.
nachteilig··on The Knack for Getting Money
It's too bad we can't bury this obnoxious and poorly written article. Don't bother with it.
