I dont think it has voice rooms yet but hopefully one day.
I dont know reviewable so it might have more sauce than the recommendations
Every time I've attempted even the basics of graphics programming I very much get scared off when it doesnt click quickly (if anyone has tips on how to get into it, it would surely be appreciated :))
Mumble isnt easy to use but has great voice and terrible text, matrix and irc are both -- for most non techy people -- hard to use and esentially text only, jitsi is video conferencing, xmpp is mainly not about voice and suffers the same issues as matrix.
I really hate the state of things as I would love to contribute and join some oss communities but they only exist on matrix and I hate using it. Its one of those things i wish i had the know how to start building my self, but webrtc alone seems impenetrable for mumble/discord style audio.
rockbox was a delightful experience, such a cool project.
I dont listen to a huge number but all the podcasts i listen to are available outside of it on one of the seemingly millions of podcast hosting services.
Patreon is really cool in this area as i can support podcasts i like and patreon provide a rss feed you can use which is quite delightful.
Why not use Java/Kotlin if its just on android? Flutter has its advantages sure, but from my experience developing with flutter is the apps end up a bit slower than native, and often you end up interacting with the Java ecosystem on android anyway so the experience doesn't end up being that much better.
I like that it opens multiple windows it makes it easy to quickly jump between directories. I dont worry about having a clean list of buffers though but it never gets in my way
Its my first emacs package outside of my config so the elisp isnt amazing or anything, but if you want to send patches the mailing list is here https://lists.sr.ht/~amk/public-inbox put any questions or patches there! :)
I also built an Emacs music player recently, for subsonic. I even use it as my daily music/podcast player. It's a very rewarding thing to work on, The Emacs development flow has made me wish everything could be developed like an Emacs application.
I think guix is a lot more ergonomic for package definitions and system configuration than nix, I also think the documentation is a lot easier to break into + it has a semi graphical installer.
the big downside being it doesnt come with proprietary drivers which is pretty annoying, but can be worked around with nonguix -- https://gitlab.com/nonguix/nonguix which also includes a few other proprietary programs, if thats something you need
1. You send me a peertube -- any peertube URL
2. I load that page in my browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Android, iPhone, Desktop, anything)
3. I watch the video
I'm not sure what the peertube mobile compatibility is like but newpipe supports it and i assume modern mobile browsers work.I have access to an incredibly high quality easy to use router firmware in the form of OpenWrt by virtue of GPLd coreutils. I wish FOSS developers weren't so afraid of it these days
I think game reverse engineering projects like this are always pretty interesting.
