morphir··on Why I Love the Khan Academy
I struggle with proving big oh, thus I wonder if (Kahn) or anyone else can help me prove that: t(n) <= cg(n) for all n >= 0 and here is the example I do not grok, where I'm gonna prove this assertion: 100n + 5 ∈ O(n^2). This proof goes like this: 100n + 5 <= 100n + n = 101n <= 101n^2 I struggle basically with wrapping my brain around the proof there. What is going on?
morphir··on Ask HN: Should I leave university?
quoting Lance Armstrongs mom: pain is temporary - quitting lasts forever. (in this context, pain == bore)
morphir··on HN: Let's ask Mythbusters to test some hacker myths
Test whether caffeine really is improving productivity or concentration.
morphir··on Node.js 0.2.0 released
let's see.. ascii is 4 bit. UTF8 is 8 bit. Is this really an issue on todays computers?
morphir··on Are you rich? If so, how did you get there?
you wouldn't be able to make that statement without that being the case for you personally, now would you?
morphir··on Vim 7.3 released
what does that mean? So we can make plugins in Lua and Python?
morphir··on Save Google Wave
open source this thing so I can sudo apt-get wave, it would go good with googles, "don't be evil"-slogan.
morphir··on Helicopter Game using HTML5 (Canvas / font-face etc)
for reference, my personal record: 693m
morphir··on Ask HN: If I gave you $20.00 US, What would you buy?
A 'Better Bottle' from Camelbak (they are simply improving the famous wheel)
morphir··on Hacker Monthly #2 is out
one question, in the last page it says printed:

"Hacker Monthly is an independent project by Netizens Media and not affiliated with Y Combinator in any way."

Why do you feel its necessary to be so explicit about your non-affiliation to YC?

May it be perhaps that you have chosen to "borrow" HN's color scheme?

morphir··on Tell PG: Give me my share
I say screw the negative effects! Negative effects will always be there, in all parts of society. Why do you focus only on the negative side here? I suspect its because you might be a "nay-sayer" all over. I say +1 to good discussions. And -1 to political correct bullshit.
morphir··on Tell PG: Give me my share
What I'm saying is that today, the comment system creates much too political correct comments. And sometimes maybe lack the intellectual finesse.
morphir··on Tell PG: Give me my share
but that's a good thing, the user has then provided clarification to the table.
morphir··on Apple releases newly designed Mac Mini
because the way I see apples products is not with a bunch of outputs and memory card slots of all kind. They are very conservative in adding anything in which they don't support all over their product-line. Apple got a very holistic product profile so of speak.
morphir··on Apple releases newly designed Mac Mini
Here is the deal: - 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo CPU - 2GB of RAM - 320GB HD (no ssd afaik) - HDMI out (finally) - SD-slot (which is also very "un-mac")

In terms of computing power, its overprized. But as a product that sits in your livingroom, problably not making any noise and runs under 10W, then I will actually call this a fair deal. May I add that its ridiculously small.

morphir··on A Cure For ‘Nigerian Internet Scams’.
what is really sad is that the whole reputation of a country is being dragged down the crapper just because of these emails. Which leaves me to ask, is the Nigerian government doing anything about this?
morphir··on Racket
write factorial in scheme, then in clojure. And you might see an very interesting difference. Hint: the jvm does not have tail call optimization.
morphir··on Clojure.core/lazy-seq makes sense
so by expensive you mean a growth of n^2 or n^3, worse?
morphir··on Clojure.core/lazy-seq makes sense
when should you use lazy opposed to traditional eager evaluation? (I understand how it works) But I don't see exactly when lazy would be the preferred evaluation. It smells a bit like premature optimization.
morphir··on How to make McDonalds french fries
prove that algorithmically, thank you.
morphir··on Java 7: Oracle pushes a first version of closures
one can also ask the question whether its you that want to continue coding in java, because you think in java, or because you want to avoid learning something new. But yeah, if the customer don't grasp Lisp, you are pretty much settled with java.
morphir··on Java 7: Oracle pushes a first version of closures
usually its the jvm that is the dependency. So I don't see why you could not program in clojure or scala.
morphir··on Java 7: Oracle pushes a first version of closures
yeah, I suppose I do :)
morphir··on Java 7: Oracle pushes a first version of closures
now the blob-programmer can create compound blobs out of smaller atomic blobs.
morphir··on Blizzard Calls DRM a "Losing Battle"
who cares about drm? Everybody in the game industry knows that "cloud computing" is the future.. Where the company holding the copyright do not have to release the entire binary. The future is services over fiber/4G networks. Distributed gaming that is. This may also mean that cheating as we know it will cease to exist.
morphir··on How many lines of code does it take to create the Android OS
The one that comes after C.
morphir··on How many lines of code does it take to create the Android OS
The Android robot to McCarthy: You get 144 lines to write in lisp. What would you like to write?

McCarthy to the Android robot: Umm. Curse out the other languages for being cheap knockoffs.

morphir··on Sal Khan and the Khan Academy to the rescue
Haha! Khan Acad. keeps growing and growing in terms of videos and popularity.. this is just awesome! :D
morphir··on XMonad on OSX
what kind of macbook do you have? and what kind of distro do you run on it?
morphir··on Open Letter to Steve Jobs (and a reply)
may I add that software patents are non-existent here in Europe. So a codec made here in Europe should not have to worry about infringing anything..
