morphir··on Firefox introduces PDF viewer

morphir··on Is Scheme Faster than C?
if this proves to be true, I'm most grateful for your tips. Maybe you could be even more specific providing a page number/chapter?

morphir··on Is Scheme Faster than C?
"This is where Scheme really won. Because of its extremely algorithmic---almost mathematical---nature, Scheme can be easily manipulated in a sort of algebraic style. One can follow a series of rewrite rules (just about blindly) to transform a program into another form with some desirable property. This was exactly what I needed."

Can anyone explain this with an example? I have been pondering what he meant with this for a long time.

morphir··on No GPL Apps for Apple's App Store
it has. But I think its important to point out that freebsd and the bsd-stack is not in any way in competition with osx. Apple develops products, and earns money by creating products that average joe can operate with ease. This means that Apple is able to commoditize off open source, by taking and contributing back to their projects of interest. Free Software Foundation have their understanding of what freedom is. Unfortunately the fight for freedom has resulted in a rather complicated GPL v3 opposed to BSD-licenses which demand that your respect copyright and by that restricts you less than the GPLish licenses. It's ironic, but BSD offers more freedom than GPL. Also, it's a shame that VLC - being the most kick-ass videoplayer today - is hindered by legal issues.

As a funny sidenote, one could say that if you choose GPL you need to consult your legal-department. But if you choose BSD you don't even need a legal-department.

morphir··on Node.js powered MMO scrabble
It uses websockets to provide realtime multiplayer action. And canvas to draw the graphics. This is a sweet taste of what is to come with HTML5.
morphir··on Kinect sex game will not become reality, Microsoft says
Essentially I'm saying that the developers/distributors that make these kind of products will find a way to reach their customers some way or another. Just because microsoft makes this statement may indeed hinder the market from developing in the early beginnings. But it will not stop the perverts in the long run. Not that I'm against this product in any particular way - as I think people are to be free to explore their sexual fantasies. I am saying however, that the market will be (probably) too big to be ignored.
morphir··on Kinect sex game will not become reality, Microsoft says
there is no need for me to define perverts. But according to wikipedia...: Perversion is a concept describing those types of human behavior that are a serious deviation from what is considered to be orthodox or normal. ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pervert
morphir··on Kinect sex game will not become reality, Microsoft says
The perverts will win. Simply because there is too big of a market for this to be ignored.
morphir··on Google Body Browser
does this use websocket?
morphir··on Could the Wikileaks Scandal Lead to New Virtual Currency?
Maybe not a new currency. But Paypal truly has showed weakness when bending over for a government without any juristic evidence. I mean, Paypal as the #1 international internet pay-service (as I see them) is basically compromising their entire credibility over one political case. One can only wonder how much pressure the Government had put on them. So while a totally new currency maybe would be taking it a bit too far - a 100% independent online pay-service/transaction-service, explicitly stating their i political independence would be up for a timely launch now. Kind of like a Swiss bank - but for online cash-flow.
morphir··on Peter Seebach: How I learned C
making sounds on a violin does not make you a musician just like coding up some statements does not make you a programmer. But it is how everyone, great or small, starts. Nice read.

morphir··on Ditching 200K of C++ for 30K of Scheme
a before and after picture comparison would go a far way, since I'm on osx, I cant see much difference.
morphir··on Ditching 200K of C++ for 30K of Scheme

morphir··on Wave accepted into the ASF incubator
what is the difference between the Wave protocol and websockets in HTML5? To me, they seem very much the same, yes?
morphir··on Interpol wanted poster: Assange, Julian Paul
i think its important to stress that Assange is just the public face of the wikileaks organization. Bringing him down wont stop the leaks in any way.
morphir··on First public release of the Gosu programming language for the JVM
reminds me of java-script. Still, it's a shame they never understood the power of prefix notation.
morphir··on Ballmer sells 20% of his MSFT holdings
to me it sends the wrong signal to other share holders. Sell now while the share has a temporary peak.

their up and coming smart-phone business and being able to integrate that with their other online products like Bing will decide whether MS will grow or die. They are late in all domains, so they are gonna have to impress by pushing the experience to new heights.. which I doubt they will pull off considering they have a poor product development culture compared to apple and google.

morphir··on Pong written in both flash and HTML5. Left side is flash, right side is HTML5.
are you sure its the flash that is smooth? I got have the same firefox on osx, and flash is laggy compared to the smooth js version. Flash is left, remember?
morphir··on How We Got Sal (KhanAcademy.org) His Dot Com
In my opinion, domain name (tld) are overrated in general. Because great content will always find its way to the users no matter how weird and long the domain name is.
