Also you give no reasons as to why your preferred way of asking questions is superior other than stating as a fact that "SO would be better served" by it.
The problem I ran into was that with python you could only use certain native libraries provided by google. To use third part unsupported libraries in python you had to do a hack where you submit them with the app but I managed to get it working with a bit of fiddling.

This is subjective and not monetary value. The only people that care about social, decorative, and nostalgic value of books are also the people who probably wont resell books.
> works without power
finding a place to charge your device is easy and ereaders last months without recharging
> easy to share, resell
Sure but the money you save by reselling a book is probably less than what you save by buying the ebook
Space and weight are real, expensive costs. Owning a library has negative monetary value. Owning a library of ebooks doesn't. It's stored on the internet and you can access it from anywhere.
Basically, if your books aren't furniture and you aren't sharing your books multiple times a month ebooks provide more value.
My dad is an endodontist with zero software/web experience and even he knows not to keep passwords in plaintext and to use ssl.
I'm only a CS undergrad and I'm learning webdev so I can implement it for him but I still know to hash and salt your passwords. The fact that people implement these critical systems (and get paid for it) without knowing basic practices makes me worry about the future.
From what little I gathered the author believes that it is more important to educate the customer about what software developers do than to code? Or that our job is solving problems, not coding? (which if you are a software engineer, solving problems and coding go hand in hand). But then he conflates software engineering with IT.
Can someone explain this to me?
It is? Am I the one in a bubble here or are the writers of this article in some strange feedback loop?
