mmusc··on Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta warn against overregulating open-weight models
Makes sense Microsoft is placing it self as a model host and os providing open weight models for much cheaper on their infra already.

No wonder openai and anthropic are terrified

mmusc··on Steam Machine: Between 12k and 15k Units Sold per week
One interesting point I've seen online is that the steam machine is more of a budget Mac than a pc. As valve controls the whole stack including the OS which creates a very streamlined experience that just works.

Maybe its what will make Linux more mainstream!

mmusc··on G# – A modern .NET language with Go, Kotlin, and Swift ergonomics

they're coming

mmusc··on How I use HTMX with Go
Another great combination is htmx and asp.net razor pages. You can build and reuse components with partials and keeps things super simple and clean.
mmusc··on Factories are just rooms
Yup it's my 6yo favourite book.
mmusc··on Vite+ Beta
not at the moment :)
mmusc··on Vite+ Beta
I'm currently experimenting with a stack combining assistance, ASP.NET Razor Pages, and htmx, specifically to avoid dealing with the complexities of the modern frontend stack.

AI eliminates a lot of the tedium, grinding tasks, while HTML partials and htmx complement each other perfectly.

Not having to manage frontend framework, SSR states is incredibly liberating. Sprinkle in some vanillla js and redraw specific parts of the page as needed... done

mmusc··on Kimi K2.7 Code is generally available in GitHub Copilot
Yes significantly cheaper to run compared to the other models, tried it for an hour yesterday and the results look promising.

Saw in a discussion on Reddit that the team is evaluating glm5.2 so hopefully more to come!

mmusc··on Hermes Agent – Open-source AI agent with persistent memory
They're all very good an spending all your tokens. They are useful but way too expensive to run
mmusc··on Sagrada Família Lego set
There was a period that was very true when Ninjago were a thing. But in the last decade while they sometimes still come out with new pieces there is still a tonne of reusability and creativity in Lego pieces.
mmusc··on Microsoft starts canceling Claude Code licenses
All these tools have almost feature parity. The GitHub cli allows remote sessions and can run anthropic models anyway
mmusc··on OpenAI and Government of Malta partner to roll out ChatGPT Plus to all citizens
General elections are currently happening in Malta. This is purely a vote for us will give you stuff scheme....
mmusc··on Using AI for just 10 minutes might make you lazy and dumb
Definitely making us lazier. Not sure on dump; Depends on how you use it. Don't blindly use the output, try to learn from it instead..
mmusc··on Changes to GitHub Copilot individual plans
one subscription for access to most of the models..
mmusc··on Vite 8.0 Is Out
isnt that what projects like bun are aiming to do?
mmusc··on Ask HN: How can I get better at using AI for programming?
Funny usually a lot of my code is software plumbing, and gardening.

In terms of ai assisted programming. I microanage my ai. Give it specific instructions with single steps. Don't really let it build ehoe files by itself as it usually makes a mess of things, bit it's useful when doing predictable changes and marginally faster than doing it manually.

mmusc··on GPT-5.1 for Developers
Model is available on copilot.
mmusc··on Live coding interviews measure stress, not coding skills
Having gone through a round of interviews, I completely agree that live coding doesn’t measure anything of substance.

There was one company whose process I really appreciated:

- A take-home test, more of a puzzle-style challenge. - The interviewer does a quick review of your submission. - If they like what they see, you're invited to a follow-up session where you explain your code and make a few simple changes to it.

This approach proves that the work is genuinely yours, shows your thought process, and still gives the opportunity to demonstrate live coding on code you're already familiar with.

mmusc··on I Stopped Using Kubernetes. Our DevOps Team Is Happier Than Ever
If they have 3 cloud providers and say 5 regions that's potentially 15 clusters. My assumption is that they're running in even more regions..
mmusc··on Frame.work laptop now available in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden
I think I saw a video from their CEO showcasing some of the things in their pipeline, they are upgrading the webcams significantly. Best thing about a framework is you can just get the webcam and upgrade it.
mmusc··on Ask HN: What's the best book you've read so far in 2024?

mmusc··on Podman Desktop 1.10: 1M downloads and counting

mmusc··on Patagonia's New Study Finds Fleece Jackets Are a Serious Pollutant (2016)
If it's damp wool is one of the best things you can wear
mmusc··on Rabbit R1: Barely Reviewable [video]
I think Dave2D zeros in on the why in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMqhE9r5JuI&ab_channel=Dave2...

These devices should be apps on your phone. Google and Apple will won't open their devices enough for these assistants to useful cause they want to roll their own. So their only hope is to create a stand alone device.. But yeah they're dead in the water.

mmusc··on Ask HN: What's the simplest static website generator?
Would be my suggestion to.

What's the goal of a self rewarding llm?
mmusc··on Visual Studio 2022 – 17.10 Preview 1: Productivity, Debugging, Diagnostics
funny you say that. I recently installed the latest vs community edition and initial startup and general performance has been very snappy.

I am running very little extensions but with hot reload enabled I'm blazing through work.

mmusc··on Tell HN: GPT copilots aren’t that great for programming
I find it useful for oneliners and scaffold things like building mappers from one object to another.

Other than that don't trust it.

mmusc··on Getting rid of bed bugs: trickier than ever
