mfatica··on Tales from the spam filter of an Android app developer
Are they though? Last I checked that describes Apple's App store not Android

Why does it need to be?

It varies depending on your router and what it's running. Cloudflare has instructions for OpenWRT

If you've ever looked up at the sky at night in a dark area I don't think you could honestly say it's "dead emptiness". It's fascinating to gaze up at the stars and taking that away would be a tragedy

mfatica··on Iran Will Begin Enriching Uranium at Higher Level in Days
> Iran was in full compliance with it

If you trust Iran's word that yeah we're totally not developing nukes then sure.

mfatica··on June was hottest month ever recorded on Earth
If it's meant to be a serious discussion of a topic, why does the video need to start with a visual gag? Moreso why such an asinine gag? I cannot take seriously someone who does not take themselves seriously, it tells me maybe they are not thinking through things as critically as they should.
mfatica··on June was hottest month ever recorded on Earth
Turned it off after the first 15 seconds. Why does a video about climate start with a man putting peanut butter on a statue of a dog? How am I meant to take that seriously
mfatica··on June was hottest month ever recorded on Earth
> We are right about climate change. Full stop. People who consider that not to be the case are lacking in information, because there are literally dozens of independent lines of evidence that back the conclusion and that have been used to model the current state of the climate.

I think the largest divide is man-made climate change vs not. I agree the climate is changing. I'm not yet convinced we're causing it or we can do anything about it.

mfatica··on Why is collapsing a Hacker News comment so slow?
I've only noticed on mobile
mfatica··on Svelte is the most beautiful web framework I've seen
React conceptually is very understandable, but understanding what it's actually doing under the hood is not.
mfatica··on Svelte is the most beautiful web framework I've seen
text nodes and style attributes are part of "the DOM itself"
mfatica··on Svelte is the most beautiful web framework I've seen
I think svelte compiling to native javascript is lightyears more understandable than whatever the hell react is doing
mfatica··on Chinese authorities install app on phones of people entering Xinjiang
Kind of ironic you bought a burner phone to avoid Chinese surveillance then turn around and buy a Huawei phone
mfatica··on Svelte is the most beautiful web framework I've seen
if they use cloudflare that's the reason why. all of cloudflare was down today

If throwing a burrito is an act of violence then throwing a milkshake is too - yet the left openly advocates for this and has yet to face any consequences. A journalist, Andy Ngo, was suffered a brain hemorrhage because antifa terrorists in Portland are mixing quick dry cement into their "milkshakes". How far are we going to let this go before we return to civility?
mfatica··on Apple Moves Mac Pro Production to China
To be fair what PC company does not have horror stories when it comes to customer service? The only exception I've personally experienced is Dell enterprise support, but that's a far reach from what any consumer will have.
mfatica··on Apple Moves Mac Pro Production to China
It does seem like Macbook Pros have been on the decline. But this new Mac Pro feels like Apple turning back to the workstation use case anymore, especially with a quad-GPU option. I'm hoping the departure of Jony Ive will turn the Macbook Pros back in the right direction.
mfatica··on Apple Moves Mac Pro Production to China
The US is not talking about starting a war. President Trump has been very clear he wants to avoid war.
mfatica··on Defining Public Interest on Twitter
I've seen far more on the left calling for bullying, inciting violence, and inciting hate than the right.
mfatica··on [dead]
All these salty comments remind me how many bitter people in this industry take every opportunity they can to dump on other people who are actually making meaningful progress towards something.
mfatica··on China Warns World Leaders: Don't Talk About the Hong Kong Protests
Totally agreed, I'm actually pro-Trump and didn't mean it in a negative way
mfatica··on China Warns World Leaders: Don't Talk About the Hong Kong Protests
First thought when reading this headline is what is Trump about to say
mfatica··on Trump Signs Executive Order Compelling Disclosure of Prices in Health Care
Maybe there's a gap for some kind of doctor-patient communication application? The idea is a new drug like this comes out and a doctor can go into their system and send some notification to their patients
mfatica··on Results from placebo-controlled LSD microdose human study
Because it is a treatment for some things and we should treat it that way so those that can be helped get the medicine they need
mfatica··on Ask HN: Why is .NET not popular with startups?
I don't think there's a single factually correct statement in this comment from startups being invented in 2005 to no one succeeding with .Net
mfatica··on U.S. Carried Out Cyberattacks on Iran
And this is news why? The NYT has become a treasonous rag. If anything thinks major state sponsored cyber attacks are not being carried out between world powers they're either ignorant or having been paying attention. To call out the US like this is a sham. How about the NYT times writes about the cyber attacks carried out by China, Russia, Iran, NK, and more?
mfatica··on Zhaoxin KX-6000 CPUs Purportedly Match Intel's Core I5-7400 in Performance
Taiwan is involved yes, but it's a joint venture between the government of Shanghai and a Taiwanese company. So certainly mainland China has the influence here.
