I don't comment on internet forums to be complimented on my response style. Address the substance of my arguments or just save yourself the keystrokes.

Convincing (counter)arguments make as few assumptions as possible & clarify them as they unfold w/o making unnecessary claims that are not validated w/ the evidence presented. Furthermore, pathologizing the speaker/writer does not contribute to anything either so my recommendation is to leave those out as well.

measurablefunc··on Black hole singularity is a surface not a point
It could also be an infinite dimensional ball which technically also has 0 surface area & volume even though it has a non-zero radius.
measurablefunc··on Everyone says assembly is untyped—everyone is wrong
> However, every instruction has a set of valid forms. Each form dictates the kind of each operand (register, memory, immediate, label), the class of each register (general-purpose, vector, mask), the width of each operand, the range each immediate may take, and what the instruction clobbers (flags, memory, particular registers). In x86, a mulps wants a 128-bit vector register; a crc32 in one of its forms wants a 32-bit destination and an 8-bit memory source; div reads and writes rdx and rax whether ask to it do or not.

The instructions have bit-width, arity/source/target requirements so technically there are types whereas an abstract virtual machine that only operates on some fixed set of integer registers is mostly untyped (modulo number of registers).

measurablefunc··on There's no reason for software to be slow anymore
There is no reason for it to be non-extensible either and depending on the use cases people might want to trade speed/optimization for more runtime customizations which will inherently be slower than pre-baked SIMD regex and whatnot.

Looks like another art project.
measurablefunc··on Amazon Is Creating the Biggest Pollution Source in the Country
Because I live in a city w/ an unsustainable ecological footprint & so does basically the rest of the industrialized world.
measurablefunc··on Amazon Is Creating the Biggest Pollution Source in the Country
The consequences are already baked in, the only question is how badly it will play out & who will get the short end of the stick.
measurablefunc··on Amazon Is Creating the Biggest Pollution Source in the Country
The average grocery store food item travels more than 3k miles to reach its destination from the source. Let me know how you're going to make that work w/o diesel.
measurablefunc··on Should AI labs be treated like the owners of dangerous animals?
Autonomous hacking is an oxymoronic phrase. Someone is running the algorithm & keeping tabs on it b/c hacking is an activity w/ an intention to gain access to privileged information which is often protected by network firewalls & at rest encryption.
measurablefunc··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
That's great. I'm sure you get a lot of good value out of it but eventually OpenAI will have to become profitable & they might curtail consumer resources.
measurablefunc··on Danube's record low levels force shutdown of Hungary's only nuclear plant
It's now.
measurablefunc··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
It all comes back to electricity cost. China has cheaper electricity so as long as China keeps pace there is no way for American companies to undercut them. Each boolean operation in China is cheaper than the one in America.

> China: Household rates average around $0.08 / kWh (¥0.53/kWh).

vs

> US: Household rates average around $0.16 / kWh, though regional variation is massive—ranging from ~$0.10/kWh in low-cost states (like Washington or Louisiana) to $0.30–$0.45+/kWh in high-cost areas like California or Hawaii.

Model segmentation & distillation like this that asks the consumers to pick exactly which version of the algorithm will solve their problem is evidence for lack of intelligence instead of its presence.

The list of people on their announcement page have a track record that will probably answer your question.

It's a multiplexer w/ distributed state. If you know about tmux then it's basically tmux but someone else can connect to the same session w/o logging on to the same computer. I can imagine it being useful for debugging production outages b/c several people can use a single "dashboard" for coordinating their work w/o having to go back & forth on slack/zoom/etc. You can ask any chat bot to explain further if you want to look into it: https://share.google/aimode/XadkUVcvpjlYhuWmK
measurablefunc··on Israel Is Paying Millions to Train AI Chatbots How to Talk About Gaza
You'll have to take that up w/ the international court of justice instead of random internet strangers commenting on the legality of propaganda & political SEO.
measurablefunc··on Israel Is Paying Millions to Train AI Chatbots How to Talk About Gaza
Entirely expected & note that there is nothing illegal about it. It is essentially SEO for political purposes.

Water vapor amplifies the greenhouse effect so I don't think rain is going to make it better.
measurablefunc··on Digital Intelligence: Why Humanity Created What It Does Not Understand
> Spent the whole afternoon ingesting a most remarkable work, The History of Intellectronics. Who’d ever have guessed, in my day, that digital machines, reaching a certain level of intelligence, would become unreliable, deceitful, that with wisdom they would also acquire cunning? The textbook of course puts it in more scholarly terms, speaking of Chapulier’s Rule (the law of least resistance). If the machine is not too bright and incapable of reflection, it does whatever you tell it to do. But a smart machine will first consider which is more worth its while: to perform the given task or, instead, to figure some way out of it. Whichever is easier. And why indeed should it behave otherwise, being truly intelligent? For true intelligence demands choice, internal freedom. And therefore we have the malingerants, fudgerators and drudge-dodgers, not to mention the special phenomenon of simulimbecility or mimicretinism. A mimicretin is a computer that plays stupid in order, once and for all, to be left in peace.

What happens when Oracle can't pay the interest on their loans?
measurablefunc··on New York becomes the first state to impose a data center moratorium
They only have 12 years of proven natural gas reserves left so you should take up whatever issues you have w/ lack of natural resources w/ mother nature. Most of the new capacity they are planning to build are natural gas & coal plants. Renewables are not reliable enough for data centers.
measurablefunc··on New York becomes the first state to impose a data center moratorium
Then you should move to Texas. Seems like that would solve whatever issue you have w/ lack of new buildings or whatever you're concerned about.
measurablefunc··on New York becomes the first state to impose a data center moratorium
According to Google, Texas currently has about 87GW of peak capacity & a data center production pipeline that will require 75-100GW. So the state will have to basically double its peak capacity to supply power to all those new data centers.
measurablefunc··on Success may not matter if you aren't doing what you love
Article is about economic/business success which is defined in terms of revenue/profits, i.e. numbers going up & to the right.

measurablefunc··on Meta data center water discharges suspended for contaminating water supply
Meta takes more in than whatever it pays back¹

> Meta Platforms reported annual income taxes of $25.474 billion for 2025, driven by massive profit margins and a major one-time tax charge stemming from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). Despite massive recorded U.S. income, Meta's effective federal tax cash rate dropped to just over 3.5% due to extensive research and development (R&D) credits, stock option tax breaks, and bonus depreciation.
