Safari was forked from Konqueror. While a lot has changed since then it might be worth it to try Konqueror.
mbushey··on Tesla Is in Immense Trouble and Musk Knows It
Tesla is in trouble? I think every other auto company other than BYD are on the verge of going out of business. Tesla makes every traditional auto company look incompetent. It's now cheaper, over a period of 8 years, to buy and "fuel" a Model 3 than a Toyota Camry. My Model Y saved my wife's life by literally preventing her from completing a left hand turn when the light turned red because it saw a car (that she did not) doing 80-90MPH that 2 seconds later ran the red light. I could go on for hours about how amazing the car and their tech is.
mbushey··on Tesla is offering $7,500 credit and 10k miles of free Supercharging
It's never been about profit. Tesla has a goal of electrifying the car market. Elon has stated he would consider making the rest of the industry switch to making EVs a success. Elon has his goals that he very reliably sticks to (Ignore the entertainment "news" companies that lie non stop). Tesla raised the price of their vehicles over and over again to stabilize demand, they didn't want 2 year wait times. Elon has stated he's not happy with how much the cars cost right now.
mbushey··on Tesla is offering $7,500 credit and 10k miles of free Supercharging
Number of cars sold. As far as profit, they're making several times the money per vehicle sold compared to companies like Toyota.
mbushey··on Show HN: Shmux – run all your scripts from one file
Took a quick look at the GitHub page. You should explain what this does.
mbushey··on Tesla is offering $7,500 credit and 10k miles of free Supercharging
Well on deliveries in the US yes, because otherwise everyone with a brain would put off the delivery for a few more days to get their $7,500 Federal tax credit.
mbushey··on Tesla is offering $7,500 credit and 10k miles of free Supercharging
No, it's to make up for NOT getting the $7,500 federal tax credit you get starting Jan 1st. Poor quarter? Tesla is setting records and outselling ICE cars.
mbushey··on Movie fans can sue over misleading trailer, says US judge
Not all. I once went with a coworker for lunch at Del Taco. He ordered what turned out to be on our place-mat. I was astounded that it looked identical to the place-mat photo, if anything it looked better than the photo.
mbushey··on I tried to add EV chargers to my rental property
Really? I have a Nissan Leaf and a Tesla Model Y. I alternate using the same outlet to keep both of them fully charged. The Leaf only charges at home, and I only use Superchargers for the Y when I'm on road trips. I already have 220V in the garage, it's just not worth spending a few hundred on a 220v charger as 110v meets my needs completely. The only reason that I might go 220v would be if I install solar panels and want to dump more power into the cars during daylight hours.
mbushey··on Simple mix of soap and solvent could help destroy ‘forever chemicals’
Yum, everyone needs to consume more nylon. I use a small cheese knife that looks like a mini meat cleaver as a scraper. The pans have enough seasoning that they're similar to Teflon as far as stickiness goes.
mbushey··on Simple mix of soap and solvent could help destroy ‘forever chemicals’
Yet that negligible amount is enough to kill birds. What was that about miners and canaries?
mbushey··on Build Your Own Imagen Text-to-Image Model
Please let me know - it seems impossible to get trained checkpoints for text to image.
mbushey··on Run your own DALL-E-like image generator
How many hundred thousand dollars of GPU hours are required? It's not like it's possible to download pre-trained data for these type of things.
mbushey··on Show HN: Sliceform – Learn CAD for 3D printing from scratch
I want nothing to do with Autodesk products. OpenSCAD and FreeCAD are my tools.
mbushey··on Car wars: Analyst predicts GM, Ford will surpass Tesla EV sales by 2025
> They'd be open to F-150 after a few design iterations work out the kinks.

Ford already fired those engineers. I don't think there will be much more coming out from Ford other than Bankruptcy. Not sure how long they can last loosing a billion dollars a month.

mbushey··on Car wars: Analyst predicts GM, Ford will surpass Tesla EV sales by 2025
I think you're confusing Elon's honesty with Ego. I don't think he even knows how to lie. His goals have been met so accurately that I think he out does Aldus Huxley as a prophet. My Model Y is elegant, has better detail/fit/finish than any other car brand I've seen. It makes my 320HP Camaro feel like a golf cart. The lack of buttons screaming "I want to break and cost you all kinds of $$$" is zen. Driving at night without all kinds of gauges shining light on you so less fatiguing. The active safety features already saved my wife from getting into a typically fatal collision (getting hit head on by a car doing 80-90MPH running a red light). Have you seen what Tesla has accomplished over the last 15 years? Saying they'd be better off with someone else shows how clueless you are about Tesla.

> the big car makers learned that you can’t skimp on quality without facing devastation like Detroit in the 80s and 90s.

How do you explain the number of recalls Ford and GM are having on their new vehicles? Ford has numerous cars/truck that are at like 9 or 10 serious recalls in the last year. Engines blowing up, transmissions blowing up, brakes going out. "The big car manufacturers" only learned to cut so many corners that they make trash now. They're loosing serious money even on their ICE vehicles; the figures show Ford is loosing over a billion dollars a month so far this year.

mbushey··on Car wars: Analyst predicts GM, Ford will surpass Tesla EV sales by 2025
Tesla does not spend money with advertisers, so "automotive news agencies" are always going to print articles like to to try to keep the money coming in. Tesla is the only [non Chinese] company to get massive mining contracts so they can build the millions and millions of cars that Austin and Berlin will each be making annually. All this while Ford and GM will be producing tens of thousands of EV's, which is as many as they can buy batteries from their supplier for. Ford and GM are claiming to spend billions on battery plants to make batteries that are already obsolete, and have no source for the raw materials to make these out-dated batteries. Ford/GM/Stalantis are dead and are going through the motions to get as many CEO paychecks and stock pricing going as possible until the next bailout. Rinse Repeat.
mbushey··on Talos Linux
I've been looking at Talos for almost a year now. I love the fact there is no shell, each machine is just a K8s node. It seems wonderful, but I can not get it to install. A friend has has the exact same experience, he finally went with Ubuntu and k3s. Has anyone successfully installed it?
mbushey··on US moves closer to recalling Tesla’s self-driving software
Or Livepilot as my Model Y saved my wife's life.
mbushey··on US moves closer to recalling Tesla’s self-driving software
I love the FSD beta, and the car has already prevented my wife from getting hit head on by a car running a red light at 80-90MPH. Your comment is exactly how I feel about Microsoft, it's grossly irresponsible to run that crap, and it's not even labeled as beta.
mbushey··on Tesla Hits the Brakes on Its New Big Thing
Watch the youtube videos on FSD. It's insane how fast it's improving. Zero disengagement trips are becoming pretty common.
mbushey··on DIY Electron Beam 3D Metal Printer project
Awesome! Someone is continuing the MetallicaRap project.
mbushey··on Tesla insists Autopilot and FSD are safe, but US senators aren’t buying it
The question is, "Who's buying the US senators"?
mbushey··on Microsoft tempts software pirates with 50 percent discount on Office
> The message links to an official Microsoft website that claims “pirated software exposes your PC to security threats.”

The pirated software may have some of the nefarious stuff pulled out and be safer than the "real" version from Microsoft. What would posses people to use Office, let alone pay for it? LibreOffice or Gsuite would be a better choice for 99.9999% of the users.

mbushey··on Software updates could boost your car's resale value
This is why Stellantis (Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge+more) will be one of the first legacy auto companies going out of business. "Electric cars are too expensive for us to make, we'll just magically sell $4.5 billion in software for our cars in 4 more years instead"
mbushey··on Ask HN: What is the fastest way to ramp up on DevOps, k8 and GCP?
> when it's useful: 0% if the time, or possibly more if Self-flagellation is your style

> when it's not: 100% of the time.

mbushey··on Ask HN: What is the fastest way to ramp up on DevOps, k8 and GCP?
Lol. Helm is like the ex that still comes around to key or graffiti your car. Kustomize is the girl that makes you realize you want to get married.
mbushey··on Tell HN: Tesla rear-ended me on autopilot, no one will investigate
> Humans are pretty good drivers compared to FSD beta. Lol! You haven't driven in Montana, have you? What I see in the latest youtube videos is an order of magnitude better than the average driver here.
mbushey··on Can we trust Microsoft with open source?
You learn fast. My version would be fool me 10 times. I wouldn't trust Microsoft with a bag of rotted potatoes.
mbushey··on Tools to Run Kubernetes Locally
Helm is horrible. Please use Kustomize. Life will get better, it did for me. I also use Sops (with goabout/kustomize-sopssecretgenerator) and ArgoCD for a very slick well integrated system. The CRDs in ArgoCD are so well done that it feels like native K8s CD.
