mbs159··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
You can't really compare the economy of countries on two different contintents just based off of a single macroeconomic metric and expect to capture anything. It's way more complicated than that
mbs159··on CD sales growth outpaced vinyl in the first half of 2026
A single protocol seems to be very limited, especially if your collection of music is purely physical, and for a lot of people it is
mbs159··on CD sales growth outpaced vinyl in the first half of 2026
> The real problem was almost no one had a CD player not even in their car!

That's wild. Popping in a CD is part of the road trip experience!

> Hell, when my kids were young, they weren't even allowed to be outside on the same side of the house that I was mowing.

Why let them outside at all? An eagle could snatch them or something, you never know

It's more reasonable to say that the russian people tolerate the war as long as it does not impact their economic situation over a certain tolerance threshold. Almost all of the fighters from the Russian side are on paid voluntary contracts for a reason.

Well, you yiyrself did not provide any sources for asserting the argument that some of what is on Wikipedia is false

Damn, this only validates the use of ad-blockers / sponsor-blockers even more
mbs159··on Fix the iOS keyboard before the timer hits zero or I'm switching back to Android
> alternative keyboards in iOS feel second class in some ways

From my experience the opposite is true. The iOS keyboard feels unintuitive and buggy whilst most alternatives just work.

Though not an equivalent, the US has extradition treaties and various international agreements for surrendering a fugitive to a foreign country

You generally can't really pet a wild brown bear, since they are not interested in humans and would avoid you. You can't run away from it either, since it can outrun you easily
mbs159··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
My comment was very rude, I apologize
mbs159··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
The US military would be the defending force, though, which would put The People at a disadvantage. Pushing through the defenses of a multi-trillion dollar military with AR-15s seems unlikely. I don't even think that China's armed forces could defeat the US military, let alone civilians armed with AR-15s

All being said, I am no military guru and I could be wrong

mbs159··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
What are the odds of winning against a tyrannical government that has UAVs, nukes, tanks, helicopters and jets?
mbs159··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
Guess the government wasn't motivated enough to catch D.B. Cooper

Then it is reasonable to assume that you can just show us these internet memes?

When it comes to providing direct links to PDFs of scientific papers, you can often run into paywall issues. Court decisions / rulings on the other hand do not belong to any publishers, so it's a different story
mbs159··on We already live in social credit, we just don't call it that
A lot of US citizens have been imprisoned for their political ideas, though [1].

Luckily not a single US citizen was ever executed by the US government

Perhaps a good idea would be a horizontal comparison slider for the non-enhanced and enhanced versions. Kind of like how it is in Topaz Gigapixel AI
mbs159··on GPT-5 isn't bad, it's broken [video]
As a fan of Theo, I think that his arguments in the Anthropic video were bad and he seemed very entitled. Instead of owning it during the backlash, he plays victim and literally tells fans who are suspicious to go fuck themselves - not a good look IMO

> Western writing has a very small character set

If you include all of the Latin-script characters, Cyrillic, Greek, accent symbols and ligatures, you'd have over 300 characters, and that is a very conservative estimate

mbs159··on Hiroshima (1946)
Many of the top US generals at the time thought that the blockade and imminent Soviet invasion would have been enough to force the Japanese into surrender. The land invasion comparison was propped up as a good "justification" for dropping the bomb, though.
mbs159··on Hiroshima (1946)
But you do realize that in cabinet meetings after the atomic bombings, the bombings themselves were only scarcely discussed? It is unknown how much impact the atomic bomb had on their decision to surrender, but it is certainly only one of many factors.

Them being forced to do things due to the dictatorship is not a compelling argument, as people are forced to do things in Western societies too, via other external factors like risk of poverty and hunger.

The EU has nuclear weapons, which is the ultimate deterrent
