Probably more to do with the fact that the first train in Spain was build in Cuba

Pretending that the public interest if behind any of these actions an important part of the system, but certainly not the initiator.
It seems nowadays the process is much more reasonable, but Google is still far behind other FAANG companies in regard to their interviewing process, in my opinion.
