martin_henk··on Merkel Grants Turkish Request to Prosecute German Satirist
Yep, I agree. Most likely the best move.
martin_henk··on Safety Check for Brussels
Working in japan all the big companies feature systems like this. You get a e-mail and a call by a automated system. Then you have to respond with your status and if you can come to work :)
martin_henk··on Why the Wingdings font exists (2015)
It is a clipart font! This article is a bit like these linkbait things, where young people are presented with a audio cassette and a pencil
martin_henk··on Sharp Agrees to $6.2B Bailout from Foxconn, Nikkei Says
>Sharp is dull and has been for years, and all the money in the world won't resurrect this corpse.

Reason why no domestic player wanted to touch them with a 10foot pole though jp corps being sitting on huge mountains of money. What honhai did is secure the lcd fabs, get the patents (which seem not to be properly managed atm) and buy into japan inc. The revival of sharp as a brand seems like emotional lipservice to the japanese public.

martin_henk··on Sharp Agrees to $6.2B Bailout from Foxconn, Nikkei Says
LCD know-how is good no doubt, but there are good reason why from the domestic side nobody wanted to step in. Honhai is obviously looking to diversify, but how they will make it work ... Well, time will tell. Let's not forget there are many strong players in CE.

martin_henk··on Foxconn Offers $5.3B to Take Over Sharp
Foxconn will be most likely walled out of this deal, like the average user gets walled by the wsj... Also news is a few days old already. INCJ already bidding for Toshiba white goods, which they want to fuse with Sharp's white goods division.
martin_henk··on The Rise of Return-Anything Culture
The same exists in Germany for many years, as there is a law allowing customers to return goods bought online within two weeks. Shoppers abused this regulation a lot (I think H&M had problems with this), so that the rules got changed lately: you need to state a reason and certain items are excluded. Here is a somehow recent article in german about said law http://www.br.de/themen/ratgeber/inhalt/verbrauchertipps/kun...

Edit: Amazon even started to block accounts when they returned too frequently (link in german) http://www.golem.de/news/verbraucherschutz-amazon-sperrt-kun...

The Atlantic article doesn't mention Germany, but is has been a issue for years over there.
