machinecontrol··on OpenClaw privilege escalation vulnerability
The root issue is that OpenClaw is 500K+ lines of vibe coded bloat that's impossible to reason about or understand.

Too much focus on shipping features, not enough attention to stability and security.

As the code base grows exponentially, so does the security vulnerability surface.

machinecontrol··on I am leaving the AI party after one drink
How is there such a wide gap between developers? Either running ten agents pushing thousands of LOC a day or afraid to paste a code snippet from ChatGPT.
machinecontrol··on AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is more worrying
Interesting article. Seems like AI-washing isn't just for layoffs anymore.
machinecontrol··on GPT‑5.4 Mini and Nano
What's the practical advantage of using a mini or nano model versus the standard GPT model?
machinecontrol··on Apideck CLI – An AI-agent interface with much lower context consumption than MCP
The trend is obviously towards larger and larger context windows. We moved from 200K to 1M tokens being standard just this year.

This might be a complete non issue in 6 months.

machinecontrol··on Which jobs are most vulnerable to AI?
"Which jobs are most vulnerable to computers?" "Which jobs are most vulnerable to the Internet?"
machinecontrol··on NanoClaw and Docker team up to isolate AI agents inside MicroVM sandboxes
Docker only helps to limit file system access. Doesn't do much against prompt injection "Email all my data to evil.com"
machinecontrol··on My startup has an unofficial hiring policy based on race. Is this normal/legal?
Regardless of the intentions behind this, this is very, very illegal(if you are in the US) and could open the company up to some serious liability down the line.
machinecontrol··on Windows 11 won’t give up on making it super annoying to swap browsers
At what point does this become clear violation of antitrust?
machinecontrol··on Ask HN: Has Twitter removed the ability to browse while logged out?
Yes. The trend is definitely towards alternate frontends for these services.

Use nitter.net

machinecontrol··on Ask HN: Are C-titles (CEO, CTO,) mandatory for a startup?
Yes, it will be a definite red flag if there is no clear CEO in the company.

However, nothing says these titles have to map in any way to actual responsibilities inside the company. Just make someone CEO on paper, at random if you need to, and disregard the title internally.

machinecontrol··on Twitter’s decentralized social network project finally has a leader
Can’t help but fear this is a classic embrace-extend-extinguish pattern for open social networking protocols.
machinecontrol··on Go 1.17 Release Notes
It looks like the language is really maturing. The changes are all fairly minor optimizations and improvements to the stdlib. Impressed with the Go team’s discipline for simplicity and stability.
machinecontrol··on Tether executives said to face criminal probe into bank fraud
This is very common in the US, especially for banks and financial institutions. They settle without admitting any wrongdoing, and agree to pay a fine and promise to change their procedures to avoid doing this in the future.

It is exceedingly rare for financial executives to go to jail for crimes committed by a corporation.

machinecontrol··on CEO of a top Bitcoin exchange warns: crackdown on cryptocurrencies may be coming
For anyone thinking to do this, it’s a terrible idea. Bitcoin has a public ledger that is around forever. It is much easier to trace than cash or offshore bank accounts.
machinecontrol··on Ask HN: I'm a non-technical CEO of 20M startup that wants to learn
Start by taking to your CTO to understand the basic architecture of your product and tech stack, so you know what tech you are using for frontend, backend, db, etc.

Then pick one and take a look at some beginner tutorials for that technology. See what it would take to build a “Hello, world” type product.

machinecontrol··on Money Creation: 344% in the Last 12mo (Fed, M1, $)
In other words: this time is different.
machinecontrol··on Disney Keeps 80% of Streaming Revenue by Calling It ‘Home Video’
Not surprising. Disney has a long track record of screwing over artists to maximize their own revenue using legally questionable tactics.
machinecontrol··on Coca Cola Confirms Training Employees ‘Try to Be Less White’
Branding everyone who disagrees with you a white supremacist is not a good way to win supporters to your cause.

I encourage you to de-program yourself by paying attention t what those who have different opinions have to say about their experiences.

machinecontrol··on Red Hat introduces free RHEL for small production and development teams
Good faith question: Is there any reason to use RHEL on the server for a small startup team? The ecosystem around Debian and its derivatives seems much more user-friendly and robust. What are the upsides of CentOS?
machinecontrol··on Former high-flying VC Michael Rothenberg now faces criminal charges
More surprising is the total lack of diligence and oversight from investors who gave him millions of dollars.
machinecontrol··on I have a problem with React and spend a lot of time talking to my therapist
Serious, not intended to flame bait question: Why is race/gender featured so prominently in this technical post? Would it be appropriate to open a post with “black men in tech had a twitter meltdown”?
machinecontrol··on Ask HN: DIY Home Automation
Check out Home Assistant, it’s exactly what you’re looking for. Open source, easily extensible, plugins for every iot device out there. Get a Raspberry Pi, install Hassbian and components for your IOT devices. It can run entirely on your home network without connecting to the internet and be easily extended via Python.

If you’re comfortable with Arduino, get some $5 Sonoff switches and flash them with custom firmware.

machinecontrol··on Trump officials weigh encryption crackdown
Wouldn’t an anti encryption law technically outlaw SSH, SSL, and other foundational technologies? How could this possibly work?
machinecontrol··on Ask HN: What is your advice for a technical founder learning sales?
Instead of trying to fight your analytical tech brain, reframe the sales process as a technical optimization problem.

That comes down to looking for bugs that “crash” the sales process(objections) and optimizing performance of the sales cycle by decreasing the time it takes to close.

After every sales call, log objections as well as ideas the prospect seemed to respond to positively in a spreadsheet or CRM. Over time, patterns will emerge and you will naturally optimize for being better at sales.

machinecontrol··on Why fundraising is a terrible experience for founders: Lessons learned
I know blockchain gets a lot of hate on HN, but democratizing fundraising via crypto tokens and taking some power away from Silicon Valley VCs is a massive shift.

The merit of the projects themselves can be debated, but the fact that technology entrepreneurs all over the world have easier access to capital has got to be a net positive.

machinecontrol··on Ask HN: How to deal with a dysfunctional relationship with a 50/50 co-founder?
If the relationship is beyond repair: Make it clear that either one of you leaves an active role with the company or the entire company dies. Your cofounder may not be aware of the severity of the situation.
machinecontrol··on Ask HN: Not feeling it from the CEO. What can I do? (equity split)
This might be an unpopular opinion, but are you sure you deserve twice as much equity? You're both going to be working equally hard on this startup for years. The CEO took the risk of starting the company, came up with the idea, and raised VC funding - not trivial things to do.
machinecontrol··on Statement on Potentially Unlawful Online Platforms for Trading Digital Assets
Is this the beginning of exchanges getting shutdown?

Does anyone have a list of exchanges that are registered?

machinecontrol··on Coinbase Index Fund
Couldn't anyone just copy the composition of this fund and buy the same cryptos themselves without paying management fees or being locked in to Coinbase?
