In my experience, ThinkPads generally work fine.
Great keyboard and touchpad and nice display.
I use it to listen to PDFs. It works, but has plenty of hiccups with headers, footers and colons.
One answer (or better, one idea) I came up with, was to join a network marketing organization. While I am reluctant about this step, it would definitely pull me out of my comfort zone. And I think you can learn a lot sales wise in a network marketing organization.
I would love to hear what others think of this.
I remember fondly replaying Monkey Island on my Linux machine thanks to it.
Is Beethoven's 5th outdated?
It seems to me that most heros have a mentor that guides them on their way.
What I am not so sure about, is this really the majority of searches? I assume a big part of searching is about discovery — finding articles, products, images, etc.
For that, you need a good ranking and efficient crawling. Two things ChatGPT doesn't have.
Given the strong brand of Google, only time will tell if ChatGPT will eat a large chunk of Google's market share.
I would say this is far from the truth. The first covid vaccine was developed in Europe. Europe plays a big role in green energy. I would say Europe can innovate.
That doesn't mean that Europe hasn't many problems and disadvantages.
1. Lack of money for startups. Less venture capital and subsidies for startups. 2. Bad interplay between military research and startups. This basically created Silicon Valley, and it seems to be a big part in the Israeli startup scene. 3. A big part of scientific research is removed from universities => less potential founders get in contact with cutting-edge innovation. 4. No unified customer base to start with. The big home markets of China and the US seem to be a key advantage, at least for Internet/social media startups.
Red Hat/Fedora uses Gnome because Gnome is basically a Red Hat product. This has nothing to do with the geography of the distro.
Unfortunately, a lot more people use Gnome. Which is a shame in my opinion. But it is the way it is.
Almost every economist said in 98 that the euro is a bad idea. And it is for the south of Europe. It's great for the north and Germany especially, but for the south it is and has a killer.
In my opinion, the Euro will ultimately break the current EU.
Scheme is not what makes SICP challenging. The sheer density of concepts is.
HtDP is a bit repetitive and gets a bit boring over time.
While some things overlap, I would recommend to first work through HtDP (or better through this online course https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7dEjIUwSxSNcW4PqNRQW8w/abo...) and then work through SICP - especially if you try to learn programming by yourself.
I think it is better structured than HtDP and the recipe pages in the wiki are priceless. Do they have a course website?
Their growth is mainly triggered by rolling back the horrendous policies of the Great Leap Forward.
Your claim that all countries got rich via aggressive industrial policy doesn't make sense to me.
What was this policy in the US? What was this policy in Western Germany after WW II?
Their main strategy was to allow creative destruction, through strong institutions. The most important probably the rule of law.
How is this essentially different from Scrum sprints?
Normally, the search works instantly. Even though, I am located in Germany and the server is located in the US.
I debounce the search for 250ms.
The idea is not to have perfect negative correlations, but to find values with some negative correlation. This way you can profit from falling prices of an asset. Not with a 1 to 1 yield, or even higher.
Prices are not adjusted, as these are not free.
The correlation is only a first indicator.
