luney··on FlyWeb – Pure Web Cross-Device Interaction
This is a cool idea. I'd love to see it easy to create apps that can communicate using something like this and/or Bluetooth mesh networks
luney··on Show HN: Google Stackdriver Error Reporting
Any clue as to how this will be priced? Before I even consider putting time into this i'd like to know how competitive the pricing is going to be if this graduates.
luney··on Dear Recruiters
Okay this one is hilarious.

I especially liked the box "This question is intentionally left blank"

luney··on Redis as the primary data store
Short Answer: No

Here is the redis author's blog post about that: http://antirez.com/news/52

My guess is that SSD's would be beneficial in ensuring the Append-Only-File and RDB snapshots are faster.

luney··on Top Tech Certifications That Can Net You A $100,000+ Salary
This should be titled "Top Tech Certifications" which is totally different than "Top Tech Skills" which is a list I was hoping to see.
luney··on SendGrid has terminated the employment of Adria Richards?
If her role was "Developer Evangelist" she has done more harm than good. The thought of walking on eggshells worried about everything I say would be enough to get me to either switch companies or avoid working there.
luney··on Sendgrid is down
I did the same thing. Followed them on twitter just to be aware of the outage status without having to go look for it.
luney··on Dropzone.js - JS library for drag-and-drop file uploads with image previews
Similar to gmail in chrome where you can press ctrl+v (cmd+v mac) to paste and if it is an image it uploads the image for you as if you just dragged a file.

Another example that uses it is: http://mysticpaste.com

Just get an image in your clipboard and paste in the box

luney··on Dropzone.js - JS library for drag-and-drop file uploads with image previews
Just add the ability to paste an image from the clipboard (on supported browsers obviously) and its great!
luney··on Ken's Street Fighter II with animated sprites
Now I can finally do all the special moves whenever I want! FINALLY!
luney··on IE9 users to be updated to IE10 automatically with Windows Update
The sooner the better. I'd like to see IE<10 dead and enough adoption of ie10 to get the other guys competing for speed and features again. It would also be awesome if ie10 would self update like Chrome and Firefox.

Unfortunately enterprise IT will probably block this for a while.

luney··on Apple Pulls 500px’s Mobile Apps From The App Store
this made me laugh pretty good. thanks!
luney··on Apple Pulls 500px’s Mobile Apps From The App Store
Well I was going to write: Time to pull safari

But then I checked tech crunch's comments and it seems that I would be very unoriginal. Same goes for any of the other apps mentioned...

So to trump them all:

Time to disable the internet!

luney··on Large-scale HTTP and websocket routing with Hipache
Forgive me for not reading the entire thing. I searched the text for HTTPS and SSL and it found nothing. So dotcloud can load balance WSS (SSL websockets) right? And on a custom domain?
luney··on Lost On New Myspace. Can’t Escape Justin. Send Help.
When trying it out I thought that I would be impressed but end up not using it. I left annoyed.

They did do a great job making it clear and easy to delete your account though. Kudos for that.

luney··on A new kind of checking account. No overdraft fees. No worries.
This is a great idea. I want this.
luney··on The FBI's Scientology investigation
I wonder if some of their techniques could be used for a hacker boot camp. Voluntarily subject yourself to psychological abuse in order to get rid of distractions and achieve "the zone" or high productive states. Great for those experiencing longer than usual spells of burn-out. Mind hacking you back into shape.
luney··on An easy to follow design course for programmers
I am the target market for this. Unless I have to pay.
luney··on HN first days
With only a few exceptions. It's the same site.

The one site that stood out the most is excite.com

luney··on Proposition HN: I will pay $8000 for you to build your side-project/MVP
Out of curiosity. Do any developers reading this refer to themselves as "techie" ?

Am I the only one who finds this term to be suspicious?

luney··on Proposition HN: I will pay $8000 for you to build your side-project/MVP
What if we don't want money? Would you take less equity to simply help form the business and grow the product?

I can afford to build and host a product that I would use. I am looking for someone that can validate and grow the business, leaving me to do what I am good at, which is Product.

luney··on [dead]
Awesome.
luney··on Probabilistic Many-to-Many Relationships (with Bloom Filters)
Can anyone recommend any good interactive charting examples for many-to-many relationships?

"To get the embarrassing statistics out of the way first, the survey found that 51 percent of respondents believe that stormy weather can interfere with cloud computing"

Didn't stormy weather take out amazon recently?

luney··on Show HN: I'm bootstrapping my company and this is my first product. Thoughts?
Since the primary intent of the app is to help manage where your minutes go and make the process of managing the app as minimal and streamlined as possible - have you considered optionally enabling automated time keeping. Things like how much time you spend on phone calls, using your phone in general. GPS insights like driving time, time spent at home/office/bar. Anything that you could reasonably guess given the different features of the phone?
luney··on Show HN: I'm bootstrapping my company and this is my first product. Thoughts?
Will it track how much time you spend setting up/managing the data in the app?
luney··on How installing & managing apps should have been on Windows 7
The new version looks really good. When will that be available?
luney··on Why you should not be displaying relative dates.
I find relative dates to be the most useful, most of the time. The scenarios where needing the exact date or time come less frequently.

The argument for screenshots is valid, however, sites like failbook where you see the post progression as X minutes ago still provide you the quick glance benefit of relative dates.

luney··on SpinPunch (YC S12) Aims To Build Faster, Prettier HTML5 Games
wanted to try the demo game. don't have/want a facebook account. didn't get to try it.
