lukeholder··on Why Do DMT Users See Insects from a Parallel Universe?
Interesting that Satan is described as a "serpent" in the Old Testament/Garden of Eden story.
lukeholder··on OK Go’s video, for the song “The One Moment”, took only 4.2 seconds to film
You can see that the first flipbook has a digital overlay mask for the sync of the mouth video to the words. See his right hand fingers.
lukeholder··on Open Letter to Tim Cook
Totally new CPU architecture lookup skylake vs the older haswell.
lukeholder··on MacBook Pro
It's not the dual or quad, it's the whole CPU architecture upgraded, they are now using intel skylake CPUs.
lukeholder··on MacBook Pro
It's not the same processor at all though?
lukeholder··on Are RethinkDB and Horizon abandoned?
Oh no! Hope everything ends up OK. RethinkDB is so fun to use. Would it be normal for development to slow when an acquisition is happening?

lukeholder··on Some bad Git situations and how I got myself out of them
I think you misunderstood @mathieuh's statement, which is why you are being downvoted.

@mathieuh was only referring to not being able to break the something in the repo, He didn't mention hacking the git or the git data structure.

Also, @mathieuh is a uni student, so comments like

> This tells me you still don't get the point about using a revision control system

Can come across a little unnice.

lukeholder··on iPhone 7
Charging the Airpods in the case for 15 minutes gives you 3 more hours of audio playback. The case has 24 hours of charge available.
lukeholder··on A Design Defect Is Breaking iPhone 6 Pluses
I had this same issue with my iPhone 6 Plus screen not responding to touch as this article explains. Took it into Apple in Perth City (Western Australia) and they replaced the iPhone on the spot with a brand new refurbished. This article leads with a story about apple denying it to a customer, but I had my issue resolved within 25 minutes including running a last minute icloud backup. Apples legendary support is real.
lukeholder··on My review of Dell XPS 15 as a developer laptop
I had the same problem for years until I switched to MacBooks
lukeholder··on Defending Our Brand
I also just donated, and commenting here to encourage others to do the same.
lukeholder··on Alicia Keys is done playing nice. Your phone is getting locked up now
Crazy thought (sad that I even have to think about it), but what if a gun(wo)man entered the room and no one is able to call for help or give the police his/her position via their phone since it is locked.
lukeholder··on Tinnitus in relation to neck/head muscle tension
Saw the original thread on reddit, and tried it. Was blown away that it "worked" for a while afterwards.
lukeholder··on Fewer, Better Things
The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of a cheap price is forgotten.
lukeholder··on Online ambient atmosphere generator for roleplay games
This looks like a clone of (the awesome) mac app Noizio http://noiz.io/ even, down to the icons.
lukeholder··on Ask HN: Which VPN do you use and why?
IVPN - got a heap of recommendations on the last HN VPN discussion.
lukeholder··on Show HN: Map of immigration to the U.S. since 1820
Too right mate, it's too far to swim!
lukeholder··on Related: Pure Ruby Relational Algebra Engine
See also: Axiom[0] and rom-rb[1] (which did use axiom I believe), although, I don't know what does or doesn't make them 'pure' relational algebra libraries.

lukeholder··on Hanami – web framework for Ruby
For those unaware, this project was previously called Lotus. I think this is being upvoted because it was mentioned in the recently popular solnic[0] blog post.

lukeholder··on Firebase expands to become a unified app platform
Recommend looking at Rethinkdb :) They just announced Horizon too.
lukeholder··on Show HN: Find the visual center of your images
Very cool, would be interesting to have this combined with a visual center for face detection for the purpose of circular avatars.
lukeholder··on How Italy Improved My English
Is it me, or does this writer, use far, far too many, commas?
lukeholder··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
You have access to the index in a for-in:

for (index, element) in list.enumerate() { print("Item \(index): \(element)") }

lukeholder··on Results from Candy Japan box design A/B test
Why not allow the customer to choose the box type and default to the plain box. Add $1 for the designer box, see what people choose?
lukeholder··on Ask HN: How do you deal with so many project management systems?
Put a slack bot interface in front of this and I will love you forever.
lukeholder··on Developers, Being Treated Poorly? You Are Not Alone
To be honest, most of these seem like half the story.
lukeholder··on Dick Smith Is the Greatest Private Equity Heist of All Time
Masters is a premium products, high margin business competing against Bunnings which is the opposite - a totally different beast to their lower margin, high volume supermarkets. One could see Masters was doomed from the beginning.
lukeholder··on Crystal – iOS 9 ad blocker
PSA: If any content blocker is breaking a page you can touch the refresh button in mobile safari for 2 seconds and an option to reload the page without content blockers will appear.
lukeholder··on Responsive CSS grid, reordered with native HTML5 drag and drop
Would love to see a version without jQuery! Thanks for the great work.
