Regarding inflation, I would argue that younger people are more susceptible. Their free cash flow will drop, and at higher rates could lead to negative flow which over an extended period would be financially deadly especially for NEETs or other people at risk.
> biggest act of terrorism
Not to be pedantic, but that was just an attack, I wouldn't call it terrorism. Not sure anyone was scared by an explosion at the bottom of the Baltic.
I do use GTP* regularly for language learning, or making python templates to extend off of. Is it useful, kinda, not essential imo, but it is not worth as much as it is hyped.
What I find is interesting, is that the negative news regarding AI safety is adding to the hype as well since it seems to capture a lot of attention.
There are some interesting points about academic motivation here, I dont see why we have to make this a red vs blue issue. Are people offended we are talking about a particular nation? Are shills or bots steering the conversation?
Noname laptop manufactures? Grandma who does not need to learn another UI? OS fanboys who need a laugh?
People get hit by cars all of the time, and are usually not reported on unless there is a fatality. The cyclist in this case wasn't severely injured, why does it need to be reported? Is it clickbait? Or does SFG want to stir up fears around self driving cars like they are cyclist murder machines?
Regardless, I feel like this is not very interesting news until its clear that Waymo or who else has a overall worse track record than the average human. Going back to my near accident, I am excited for self driving cars because they have the potential to be better than humans in the future.
Im always skeptical of IoT devices.
During the interaction they said some really threatening, creepy, and disparaging things.
We launched a complaint, but since we left the country (for work), they said they couldn't do anything as we were non-residents.
The whole thing was completely unacceptable. I'm not anti-police, but the RCMP need serious reform. I feel uncomfortable every time we return to Canada visit family.
Then agree to disagree. I find it offensive that an employer would care what I do in my free time.
I wouldn't want to work for you. :D sorry
You will of course find someone, but its not me.
I mean to say if a recruiter asks me about a gap in my resume, I would see this as a red flag. The length of the gap is almost arbitrary. If I sat at home for 2 years straight playing Quake3, but have provable skills (e.g. technical assessment) for the job, the employer should not care what I do on my time. It is MY time.
I don't want to work for someone that judgemental. I enjoy my work, and making good things, but also work is work. If an employer is going to judge me beyond just the skills I bring to the table, that is a major red flag.
maybe I am not the ideal candidate then, but if you are looking for someone perfect on paper, your going to get someone who _was_ perfect on paper
However I feel like this propaganda to scare people back to the office
Does this sound like a respectful opinion? Or one that desperately wants my click? I'm not reading this.
But in general, I will vote to keep my QoL. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with import tariffs if required.
Did you read the whole thing?
Its marketing for a new AI assistant whatever. Waste of time.
1. switch to subscription model <- we are here 2. jack prices to maximize profit among the proportion of customer that can pay higher prices. 3. smaller startups migrate to other cheaper tools 4. cheaper tools slowly become mainstream 5. vmware is irrelevant and dead. ~ 7-10 years, maybe less.
The problem with this strategy here, is that unlike Photoshop (sorry gimp) there _is_ alternatives.
But beyond that, aren't voice assistants kind of dead? Sure it is probably much better powered by today's LLMs. I think it was the function and not the form that killed that market. (Alexa, Google Home, Siri and so on...)
For $700 and a $24/mo sub subscription... Lets see if it sticks.
Another example, even if I rent a movie online, I can't often get it in my language's audio or subtitle because of my region.
It is funny that the industry can't seem to get that.
> The EUIPO speculates that financial pressures, like inflation, means that people have less money to spend on entertainment.
I cancelled Netflix because of the drop in quality of the content over the years. It just isn't worth it to keep it around for the few shows which are decent. I don't pirate, I have other hobbies, but I could imagine many people in the same circumstance would pirate content to catch a good show. This is doubly true of movie geeks that would subscribe to multiple streaming services at once to get their content.
This feels akin to Chrystia Freeland saying families should cut a $8 streaming subscription to balance their budgets... during a COL crisis where people are spending >$3000 a month for basics.
Honestly I think it is silly to assume not. People (in general) have a pretty good intuition if EMS is coming their way.
Beyond that, this is a commercial service that is to be rolled out en-masse, it has to be better than the average human or else you will have lawsuits left and right.
> I think the fact that the vehicles stop is better. Emergency vehicles can use any lane even for opposite traffic - so go around them.
That is not a tenable solution.
