leib··on No More Free Work from Marak: Pay Me or Fork This
The person who does the work gets paid. Each feature request could have a optional bounty against it.

If they're doing work for their own enjoyment, why should they complain?

leib··on No More Free Work from Marak: Pay Me or Fork This
Seriously, he should just inform people to send him feature requests and in return he'll send an quote estimation; no need to be petulant.

It's surprising Jesus din't make the point that being good is its own reward, instead of focusing on the ultimate payoff of heaven.
leib··on When remote work doesn't cut it
I know I for one will be going back to the office as soon as possible. However, that's more due to the fact that working from home does not fit with the way I want to live, rather than any actual logistical hurdle.

At the same time though, I highly doubt many companies in the future will go 100% WFH, so all these discussions seem rather academic to me. I feel like the people that want to work from home will get more opportunity to do so, and the people that don't, won't have to. Easy.

leib··on What I Learned from the Worst Novelist in the English Language
If you can't do, judge.

I suspect some of these people are bad faith in their criticisms simply because they're bitter their own work didn't take off.

leib··on Some shirts hide you from cameras, but will anyone wear them?
In China police are sent notifciations if undesireable people are seen on camera in their jurisdictioin.

I imagine for those people the ability to move around undetected would be very much worth the garish pattern.

I also question just whether the average policeman would be able to tell whether clothing was designed to be untrackable

leib··on Scrum is fragile, not Agile
But how did you ensure that you udnerstood the requirements if you were potentially just left to it for a few months?

At the end was there ever an instance of the client not using what you produced because it wasnt what they wanted?

leib··on Aerobic exercise is an effective treatment for depression
When I was younger I think I was depressed. It got to the stage where people would talk to me and I wouldn't talk back, I'd just stare; I'd lie in bed doing nothing; I let my hair grow long because I didn't want to go outside or talk to a barber.

I'm much better now, and I think exercise was one of the key things that improved my general mood. It was a constant sturggle though for a while.

YMMV, of course, and I was never diagnosed or anything.

I literally laughed out loud at how the former USSR states happiness just flatlines as time goes on
