I posted on his blog comments as well but hand written thank you notes are a huge differentiator.

I oversimplified a bit for readability and I'm thinking specifically of technology entrepreneurs.

I don't believe the value of conferences is absolute zero but the point would be that spending your time building a notable product is far more valuable than spending your time at a conference.

I've spent a fair amount of this year attending conferences (most notably SXSW) and this post was a reaction to my experiences.

They should make an app for that - I think it would have more users.

I have an 11'' laptop that I never take out. 80% of the time I'm okay. 20% of the time they make me take it out and when I tell them that according to their own rules I do not have to, they ignore me.

I agree with the headline but I think the real purposes is to drive more people to the news feed instead of browsing profiles. The ads are inserted into the news streams.

I wonder what other areas the all or nothing funding model could be applied to? I've been kicking around the idea of trying to use this model for NPOs with the goal of encouraging innovation.
