la_oveja··on The internet is killing old PC hardware [video]
that sounds horrifying, not gonna lie
la_oveja··on I'm Done with Ubuntu
what about opensuse? Is it really the european fedora? is it worth the title of "sysadmins favourite distro"?

la_oveja··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
i can dislike the ad or even find it repugnant, and the moment it ends still be on with my life. last time i checked having opinions on things was not frowned upon.
la_oveja··on Red Hat to author new Linux driver for Nvidia GPUs in Rust
wayland is a protocol that uses the gbm api.

amd uses the gbm properly, nvidia is half cooked and previously used eglstreams instead of because they did not like gbm. reality is every compositor just uses gbm.

la_oveja··on Red Hat to author new Linux driver for Nvidia GPUs in Rust
no its not. wayland strangely works flawlessly on amd, such a big mystery.
la_oveja··on How to overclock the Raspberry Pi 5 beyond 3 GHz
it can be done higher if voltage is added further. Maybe with certain temp control can achieve 4GHz or more
la_oveja··on The Ladybird browser project
i am aware, i work as webdev and my current project is only Blink compatible. my employer does not want me to waste any time ensuring i support other browsers that are not going to be used.

web should be able to be viewed in any browser and get the same document.

la_oveja··on The Ladybird browser project
small group of lazy front-end people? i think you actually mean a small group of chrome developers single-handedly deciding how web should work, while having the vast majority of the market share to push those decisions.
la_oveja··on EU right to repair: Sellers liable for 1 year after products are fixed
> Even functionality such as remembering user region, or allowing the website to improve performance and UX using simple analytics requires consent.

no, it does not

la_oveja··on Noisy brain may underlie some of autism's sensory features
i just remembered last weekend, having a hard hungover, i was half-asleep and my brain was just repeating the number "142". Like, on repeat, for god knows how long. felt lowkey creepy, i imagine stuff like that happens regularly i just dont remember it afterwards
la_oveja··on The Rust project has a burnout problem
i take it as an aesthetic move, like using weird monospace fonts... adds the writers personality to it
la_oveja··on US developers can offer non-app store purchasing, Apple still collect commission

la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
it goes the other way around.

metas service is not essential. respecting your privacy is essential.

la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
facebook will track all my interactions, make a profile of my habits and sell them to bidders. before signing up.

i dont see how needing a email/phone number to register for something is related to anything were talking about.

la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
all buffets will know my salary if i eat there?
la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
yeah but in my example they dont make you pay beforehand: they want to know how much do you make, how much you spend, what places you spend on... is an example of being forced to comply with abusive clausules
la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
>Paying for your groceries is the right thing to do, even if you do not want to.

facebook is luring by giving away free groceries and taking pictures of your toes when youre close to sell to toe-loving private customers. thats not a proper way to pay for groceries.

spying and profiling users is not ok, crazy that this is so hard to enter on some dense-skull brains

la_oveja··on Noyb files GDPR complaint against Meta over "Pay or Okay"
x restaurant will only let you eat if you show your bank account details beforehand "to make sure youll be able to pay afterwards". obviously you wont go to that restaurant, but maybe thats the workplace restaurant (environment forces you to use it).

that doesnt sound good, no?

privacy laws must be enforced

la_oveja··on Choose the browser that best suits your privacy needs
i religiously donate each month to mozilla but you wont catch me alive paying for spotify or youtube.
la_oveja··on 'Energy independent' Uruguay runs on 100% renewables for four straight months
just fyi, a citroen ami (2020+) is not a car is a quadricycle; it does not need a driving license, is like a electric bike.

id not want to use it to stay in traffic tho, crashing that does not seem safe

la_oveja··on Rolls-royce confirms all of its current engines can run on 100 percent SAF
It will happily burn in the cilinder, however catalytic converters and other parts will not be so happy. And of course, its awfully contaminant.
