I always assume these types of stories are red herrings and intelligence agencies already have back doors or decryption methods that they want to keep hush. Make a big song and dance about how encryption is secure and push criminals towards it, meanwhile its a trap. Look at all the Tor takedowns as evidence. It's all fine by me really.
I probably work about 10 hours per week, offsetting that by basically being available 24-7 if needed. Luckily, that's very rare. I guarantee my workload and quality of work excels my coworkers who are in the office 40+ hours a week. The 40 hour work week is totally ineffective for most industries but, alas, America would never move away from it.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I make my living with a combination of professional photography, videography, a smidgen of web design and some graphic design. So yeah, no real work there.
Quite frankly, if a persons workflow doesn't include a potential for downtime then they only have themselves to blame. This whole 'down to the wire' and 'stop the press' mentality is a combination of drama-grade fallacy and unprofessional project management skills.
I wasn't a fan if CC at first but it's turned into an incredibly good deal for me at $30 per month. A little downtime from time to time can't be avoided. People just love to complain.
One thing that it's difficult for foreigners to acknowledge is that Japan is so completely different to the western world that it's almost impossible to comprehend. Articles like this, and the musings of western visitors/workers, read more to me as people misinterpreting their surroundings and misunderstanding Japanese culture. I'm convinced that a lot of Japanese have difficulty understanding the current state of their own culture too. The best way I can describe it is that western culture (capitalism/consumerism/democracy) does not mix well with traditional Japanese culture and has resulted in a bizarre chaos. My first-hand experience has shown me that a lot of Japanese prefer the traditional culture to what they currently have and I do not blame them one bit.
I would have thought a 'Holy War' with Google would also include trying to steal their best employees. Their illegal pact seems counter-intuitive in this light.
Someone's been reading/watching too much Fight Club. That's close to verbatim of what Project Mayhem would spew on the elite, along with the smiley face. None of which seems threatening to me at all.
Just when I thought Jobs couldn't be a bigger scumbag! Someone dig up his grave and make an example of him in front of all of Silicon Valley. It's what he would have done.
I'm looking forward to the revelation that the NSA was providing US companies with knowledge to aid their international competitiveness, you know, exactly what they state that the PLA are doing. What better payment for all the backdoor access they have?
Exactly. I'm not convinced that the German government is all that invested in the privacy of its corporations or citizens. The world needs more Snowdens!
I understand that discussing racism is a social minefield but, as a liberal and global citizen, stories like this disturb me. Couple this event with Spike Lee's blatantly racist and poorly worded rant against gentrification, and I question how much progress we have really made in this country. Also, the term 'non-oppressed population' makes me want to vomit.
If only we could transcend the need to constantly refer to, or take into account, someones gender. Or race. Or age. Does it really matter that its a male working on a ship or a female raising a child? I'm all for human equality across the board but we can also capitalize on our differences without denigrating those who are different. That being said, I cant tell if Camille is being facetious or not.
I'm very impressed with my new iPhone 5C but it has a major flaw... the plastic back is slippy as hell! I've dropped it like 10 times in the last week so ended up having to buy a case. At no point during testing did it slip out of someones hand?
The authorities regularly withhold information that could assist defendants so it would be business as usual I'm sure. But yeah, that's one giant can of worms!
Anytime something bad happens I'm going to ask why the NSA didn't stop it. Paul Walkers death... why didn't the NSA stop it? PS4 DOA orders...why didn't the NSA stop it? Psychboo finding Prezi's source code... why didn't the NSA stop it?
Personally, I'm not a fan of the Chromebooks BUT that tacky-ass website makes me want to love them. Did a billion-dollar company really make that crap?
