It’s not inscrutable and you don’t have to feign surprise and rely on hyperbole - people have strong feelings about Mozilla because it could be so much more. It could be carrying the torch for principles of open general purpose computing, respect for users, etc. in a world of user hostile big companies and proprietary software, but Mozilla either either can’t or won’t do it, and it’s a big shame. That’s a big source of the frustration you see commonly with any Firefox related announcement
I mean to be honest, fuck them all. The whole affair is fruit of the poisoned tree (Zuck). Just because people are making bank working there doesn’t absolve them of responsibility for their choices. Each and every employee made that conscious choice to be a part of it all
I think there exists a vein of contempt for anyone not fully embracing our bold new world, so many implementers etc. get the double bonus of alienating and frustrating all of the non conformers
Compliments of product managers, engineers, etc making millions and millions of dollars to produce a much worse end user experience, if it wasn’t painful enough
