It’s not inscrutable and you don’t have to feign surprise and rely on hyperbole - people have strong feelings about Mozilla because it could be so much more. It could be carrying the torch for principles of open general purpose computing, respect for users, etc. in a world of user hostile big companies and proprietary software, but Mozilla either either can’t or won’t do it, and it’s a big shame.
