I put together a resource guide here: https://becomeautonomous.com
Jack's response came much after the censorship actions were taken. You have to analyze with timelime. his PR firm told him he needed to do damage control.
Moreover why was this policy not applied to Trump's alleged tax return? This is one of many examples one could give. You may be too far in the SF bubble or not have a diverse news list.
So in the interest humanity and historical evidence, censorship is and will always be a bad idea. The best ideas will eventually win, as history has also shown us.
Source: US constitution, Venezuelan history, Romanian history, British history, Korean history, Vietnam history, Chinese history, Cuban history, Cambodian history, Soviet Union history, German history. That’s just a start.
Perhaps you could work as a police officer in the USA for a few years to get an authentic perspective. Based on your ideas, it seems like you're a large consumer of media narrative. There's no magic pill buddy.
The author seems like a depressed nihilist. The “everyone will disappoint you” vibe is toxic, a little immature, and selfish.
It was more profitable for everybody with this way.
Most were longtime drivers and knew historical fare. We just couldn’t get them to change their mindset.
I can tell you for a fact that a big reason SuperShuttle failed is because the drivers were independent. They would consistently reject low cost trips and wait it out until they got one "mega" trip so that they only need to actually work for about 3 hours/day. Some days they wouldn't take any trips, just hang out in the van playing Flappy Bird.
This was a main issue for the SuperShuttle because they couldn't get their drivers to do adapt when Uber came around, including accepting work that more resembled Uber pool workloads.

I am in a similar position-- a full-time roboticist and an moonlighting entrepreneur on the side. My goal here is to pick up marketing and sales skills that when the right robotics business opportunity presents itself...I'm ready for it.
If there's anything I've learned by watching the string of robotics companies close shop recently, it's that business model is more important than the technology.
Don't give up!

I would get a job that to provide yourself a safety net such that you can continue your passions. It doesn't have to be all or nothing!
This tool could be useful when people are particularly fragile and lonely like in a pandemic.
However— Social apps are like vitamins...they’re a poor substitute for eating real nutrient dense food.
A social app’s interest is also inversely proportional to that of the user. The app wants maximum usage online where the human benefits most from in person interaction.
I’m not trying say everyone is brainwashed on HN...but there’s a lot of herd thinking.
