kyle_martin1··on Oakland cops gave ICE license plate data; SFPD also illegally shared with feds
This is political. Keep it off hacker news.
kyle_martin1··on Cursor Dance Party
Managed to make a massive cursor and it was broadcasted to the whole party. Had some fun hacking this with Chrome dev tools.

Was simple as breakpointing in dev tools on "mousewheel", setting h.scale = 15, and then resuming. Massive cursor and massive fun. I'm sure people were wondering how I got mine so big. Considering it was clamped to 1.

I've thought about injecting a non-zero number to crash the app or perhaps inject some XSS to run some fun code on everyone's machine but...I decided to be nice and not literally crash the party. ;-)

All that's needed to fix this "exploit" is to properly sanitize data on the way in. Classic example of why sanitizing I/O is important!

All in all-- fun app OP.

kyle_martin1··on Elon Musk makes $43B unsolicited bid to take Twitter private
Agreed. The title should be neutralized to something like “Elon Musk offers to purchase Twitter for $43B”
kyle_martin1··on Nintendo Switch prevents downgrades by irreparably blowing its own fuses (2020)
This is common in modern embedded devices. Sometimes they're called eFuses.

kyle_martin1··on Tools to Download Netflix / Disney / Apple TV Content
I think he’s implying that the investment of time must be so large to do something like this that it couldn’t just be a hobby.
kyle_martin1··on Making the dislike count private across YouTube
And hide the White House's like to dislike ratio. Check out some videos-- the ratio is horrible: https://www.youtube.com/c/WhiteHouse/videos

Sounds like they're taking "you're not allowed to disagree" from 1984 to heart.
kyle_martin1··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
Please explain. All you said said was “I disagree”.
kyle_martin1··on Jack Dorsey says ‘hyperinflation’ will happen soon in the U.S. and the world
Then use useful idiots (Twitter users) for your political advantage.

Here’s what the White House has to say:

"Deplatforming" is just a roundabout way of saying "you're not welcome here because we don't agree with your speech".

YouTube's criteria of what is and is not harmful is the issue.

kyle_martin1··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
That's like saying KGB officers are just following orders. They're complicit implementors.
kyle_martin1··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
YouTube makes opinionated decisions about what gets in their search results. They edit their search results and have a team that decides that goes on the front page. That's editing. YouTube is a publisher.
kyle_martin1··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
Deciding what is right or wrong is the issue. YouTube isn’t transparent nor consistent about this. Social Media are publications due to their extreme efforts in curating content and speech topics. They need to be regulated as such.
kyle_martin1··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
Silencing people and pretending it’s OK is not going to work. It’s a double edge sword. Because one day they’re going to silence you. The math doesn’t work out long term.
kyle_martin1··on Salesforce Will Help Relocate Employees from Texas After Abortion Law
Right. That's why folks are moving from Texas to California. Oh wait...
kyle_martin1··on Salesforce Will Help Relocate Employees from Texas After Abortion Law
Yeah I had this theory too and was recently introduced to the term. Turns out no idea is original.

This site is pretty good: https://anacyclosis.org/portfolio/what-is-anacyclosis/

Conservatives believe the USA is in the early stages of collapse. I happen to agree with them.

kyle_martin1··on Salesforce Will Help Relocate Employees from Texas After Abortion Law
Congratulations! You discovered a gem of history-- it repeats itself. Look up theory of Anacyclosis.
kyle_martin1··on Salesforce Will Help Relocate Employees from Texas After Abortion Law
As a Texan, don't move here if you do not intend to adopt our culture. You have 49 other options after all.
kyle_martin1··on My university sacrificed ideas for ideology, so today I quit
Why was this flagged? Oh the irony.
kyle_martin1··on Comma Three Devkit
It has better cameras. Higher dynamic range which means it can handle tunnels, shade, etc. better. The cameras can also see further which means the possibility for traffic light behavior in the future.
kyle_martin1··on Comma Three Devkit
I agree with you but...you're also not claiming you're project/product is open source.
kyle_martin1··on Comma Three Devkit
I use my comma two everyday. Works great. Support from the company is non-existent.

I'm kind of pissed because I bought it in the last few months and now they've come out with another one. There should be a trade-in and upgrade program.

kyle_martin1··on Comma Three Devkit
Not actually open source. The source code that’s available is a thin wrapper around a closed-source ML model. If George really cared about Open Source he would release the training architecture and training data.
kyle_martin1··on Google Drive bans distribution of “misleading content”
You're saying Google is the same as a small family business?

If that's the case then there's no reasonable discussion to be had here...

kyle_martin1··on Google Drive bans distribution of “misleading content”
The very worst things in history were actually censored. Ever considered this?

Your argument about "worst of humanity" could equally apply to the best of humanity with free speech.

In fact...who are you to decide what is good speech and bad speech?

kyle_martin1··on US ranks last among 46 countries in trust in media
How do I know the site owner’s own biases? They’re defining their own spectrum which is inherently biased.
kyle_martin1··on US ranks last among 46 countries in trust in media
I don’t think there such a thing as objective journalism—- there is only who is honest about the lens from which they view the world.

For instance, CNN is left leaning and Fox is right leaning. They should just explicitly state their viewpoint so viewers can calibrate how much credence they give to unsourced claims and see past the political posturing.

kyle_martin1··on US ranks last among 46 countries in trust in media
Local news stations get their agenda for their parent companies. They are told what to cover, what not to cover, and how to cover things to fit the overarching narrative from executives/producers.
kyle_martin1··on A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities
Well, communism is heavily documented in history books.
