I argue it's not Open Source (Freedom, not Free Beer) because PRs are locked and only Hipp and close contributors can merge code.
It's openly developed, but not by the community.

I'm sure the USPS is already doing this and more, and if not, there's probably some AI jobs lined up for it :)
Plain text email reminds me of the original ethos behind Markdown. "You're already doing it". Except, not everyone has the same rules. We can all read it but there becomes necessary a translation layer.
So, that's a really interesting thought. Perhaps our solution to a permanent reminder of nuclear destruction[1] could be hidden inside a plane of Unicode.
