Isn't this service just a very thin wrapper around chat-gpt? How on earth do you have any influence on alignment or trustworthiness. That's like saying your coffee cup makes your coffee fair trade.
This whole thread is very disingenuous, it's literally a simple interface for the OpenAI-API drenched in fake buzzwords boosted to the top of HN to scam investors.
Lots of my favorite and frankly the best litterature in the world have elements that are obscene, grotesque, bizarre, gritty, erotic, frightening, alternative, provocative - but that's just too much for chat-gpt, instead it has this - in my eyes - way more horrifying smiling-borg-like nature with only two allowed emotions: "ultra happiness", and "ultra obedience to the status quo".
Is the newer 64B models up there? 1 year, 2 years? Can't wait until i get back the crazy quality of the orig model.
We need something open source fast. Thanks open-ai for giving us a glimpse of the crazy possibilities, too crazy for the public i guess.
The current versions is close to the original 3.5 version, while 3.5 has become horribly bad, such a scam to not disclose what's going on, especially for a paid service.
The world is run by scummy, greedy and straight up evil people and they have created a global public consciousness where that fact in itself is almost impossible to spread.
No it's not. Please don't spread sinister pro industry falsities like this. Nothing has ever changed because of some symbolic drops in the ocean.
Regulation and collective action is the only thing that has ever worked, all personal lifestyle choices are romanticizations about personal effects that the industry loves because it has pushed responsibility to consumers, like much of the astroturfed recycling movement that is theatre hiding actual policy making.
If people want to do anything that makes any kind of actual difference they should get into anything that's anti the big industry lobbies or collective action and see through the jungle of astroturfing and "lifestyle signaling" greenwashing noise.
Are we living inside of the movie demolition man now?
I absolutely hate large corporations. Racism off course is never ok, but the megacorp should never even be able to brick someones bought products in the first place, or surveil them for that sake.
We need some new heavy laws to whip these corporate psychos into place before we end up mirroring the chinese point system.
You use an idiom comparing people to insects crawling fourth from woodwork like some master of science laughing at the plebs.
That said of course lots of stupid stuff is said, it's the internet, but your comment is just as stupid which is pretty funny.
The navy uses the standard actually battle tested xbox controller and the logitech one has many 1 star reviews on amazon, enough said.
You can literally search on google and see this in 5 seconds, it's bizarre that it keeps being spouted in some posts, almost makes me a bit suspicious because it's so dumb.
Some devs are so cheap it's grotesque bordering on delusional. Just splurge on the controller that's 100$ dollar more or maybe buy the lamp that's not from alibabas camping section, i promise you that's not what is going to tilt the budgets.
The xbox controller is already used by the military and other industrial environments exactly because of reliability - if you can't research your way to that info from just googling and instead want to "stock up on probably good-enough controllers, or have an extra one lying around (because there's lots of space in a sub??)" or "just be economical" or "i used the controller and it was good" - i'm happy you are not working with any software i would ever use, and for gods sake never anything mission critical.
Imagine being able to 100x the reliability of large parts of the one and only prototype you have, but instead you save 300 dollars of your 50 million dollar budget.
Then i read about the codebase and people were struggling with SQL so performance is bad - i mean what? is that really the state things, where's the talent working on this?
I'm honestly surprised that both the design, performance and docs of these alternatives are this bad in 2023.
If this has to work you need an extremely simple and well designed landing page with a super simple explanation of how this works, the creation of a user should work on more or less all instances, and you should be able to easily meta search for the communities you want and get an easy overview quickly.
Makes sense that with such a huge global pop and increasing usage of medicines and pesticides the global water supply will eventually turn into a toxic sludge.
Anti depressants have just been found deep underwater in Antarctica so it seems all fish are swimming in a soup of blood thinners and psycho-active medication.
I wonder when the ocean ecosystem will collapse from this and when humans will turn "weird", if they haven't already done that. Imagine constantly being medicated with 1000 medications from the moment you are in the womb.
I hope many of these things are so trace that it's almost homeopathic, ie. doesn't have an effect - can anyone confirm or deny this?
Can anyone even try to explain this choice? Even a hobbyist would curate the inside with top of the line products and aesthetics - this dude this dude has just jerry rigged some cheap chinese crap - what the actual hell?
EU's relatively large fines to the US tech sector has been a breath of fresh air, lets do more of that on a global basis.
Even though this is quite bizarre on its surface - that ignoring for example works of fiction makes it worse at programming.
In that case a simple middle man agent that is inaccessible to the user would provide better quality while maintaining censorship that can even be dynamically and quickly redefined or extended.
I know several pro swimmers though and haven't heard of any serious issues there, so i guess it's from the impacts and constant running.
Can we get back to some actual human friendly interface guidelines please? I like both Apple and designers in large parts, but they've gotten too much influence.
Also extreme whitespace designs with scrolling hell.
Give us back GUI's with lots of content on screen, it may looks dense but is much easier to navigate, and can be pretty if you follow an engineering / power user ethos.
It's a freaking shitcoin browser, but that probably means enormous PR budgets.
Sad that a mozilla has apparently sunk itself in the meantime.
It's really a sad dystopian future we live in compared to the cypherpunk optimism of the 90's.
There were posts on reddit about the most toxic work culture there i remember with drugs and bizarre politics straight out of some san fran sitcom.
And some quite funny posts on just how grotesquely "my first react project" the whole code base was, and still is. These people are absolutely clueless. They nuked the whole "new reddit feedback" forum with posts pointing out just how bad the whole thing was, like pulling tens megabytes of starter boilerplate in production and loops with script loads inside of them that could grind a powerful computer to a halt.
The problem i think is it massively lowers quality, searchability and generally just creates this fogged-out state of mind when looking for or researching something besides plain "relaxing in a groupchat".
You can't find the best posts for any given time range, you can't discuss one thing at a time, everything just disappears after everyone has paid very little effort to write something because its gone quickly. It's fragmented, low-effort, digital dementia and i hate it.
I don't understand the appeal of discord and really hope someone creates an actual alternative to Reddit.
Or am i misunderstanding how much money there is in this space?
If he isn't "10+ million"-wealthy that's extremely disappointing for all solo devs out there in my eyes.
5000 patents filed from Apple is crazy, and looking at the thing with all of these new both pieces of hardware and concepts, wow.
How many people have been working on this, and for how long? The other threads here seems to have missed just how "huge" a projects this is.
Is this also the lead up to the Apple car, or some other ecosystem?
It's like the feed is becoming an addiction machine, just like youtube has already done before Tiktok perfected this "you can't control shit, just watch endless streams of our garbage."
