I do like using these glasses but I do not want to use the Meta app at all which is probably siphoning all my dog videos to an AI training center in kenya.

There's a lot of controversy around these glasses, partly due to weirdos who shouldn't have them and partly due to it being a Meta product. RE work accelerated after seeing the Wired report on facial recognition, which I was able to reproduce as well.

The app doesn't talk to the internet, there's no AI assistant crap in it. It's just to download your videos and photos, get the stabilization sidecar file, and to configure some settings like tone volume and recording time.

It's time to kick Meta out of your face.

Or the title bar below. You could do some basic OCR on a Pi, when the team names are readable, keep the volume up, when they are not, disable it.

Considering how lowly paid SWEs are in this country, I'd imagine the company would be better off keeping them on payroll.

Maybe the other guy's car was left unlocked and the app just unlocked his car, which was left unlocked after the main guy drove off with the other guy's car?

I got my first fulltime job ever in 2019, got laid off in 2021, and had no issue getting interviews and finally landing another job. In 2021 the process was surprisingly easy, fast and without much input from my end. I never really did leetcode exercises, so it was quite a shock to find so many companies do them.

For years I've hacked on their WiFi and BLE APIs and wrote several libraries and tools around the commands. My python wrapper around their App APIs got some votes here on HN too. Its been very cool to see how makers and hackers have used my info to run their projects and create new GoPro experiences. Now it's turn I take a rest.

Just tried it myself, it works.

Huawei and Xiaomi are both culprits of background app killing, and unlike Google they don't provide a way for apps to whitelist themselves.

Huawei adds a very aggressive background app killer, this means that apps like VLC and WhatsApp don't work in background. I have a low end Huawei device for testing purposes (hint hint), there is a setting to whitelist apps from huawei's appkiller but they get killed anyway.
