I agree with the first point but can you cite some examples for the second. I personally feel they are/should be most developer friendly company considering they are purely engineering driven.
I have been using - WORDS, CHIME, FAULT for the first 3 words. Eliminates all vowels. Then I either proceed to guess the correct position of letters if I have 2-3 yellows from the first 3, or proceed to eliminate consonants.
Exactly and that is precisely why the current interview system is bad. The companies want candidates to pretend they just invented these algos on the spot and haven't solved like 50 similar questions on leetcode to remember the approach.
The algorithms are supposed to be fun and deriving them a group exercise.
Do they really? It seems to be blown up by media. Talented people are still applying in droves for a job at FB. The competition has definitely increased with good options out there for candidates but hiring trouble is bit preposterous.
This thing is ruining my experience as well. I don't want any time of suggestions in my feed. I curated it so that there's only people of tech who talk mostly about tech but my feed is pure garbage now filled with political comments, holidays pics etc. of people I don't even follow.
I think it depends on the idea. Generally, you should patch together something as a beta and roll it out to community/friends/family for feedback. But if it is something that will take almost a year for a beta then you should spend time validating as well.
Same. Most of my time is spent in thinking. My manager has told me though that it sometimes is not possible to quantify this time unless I create a doc where I lay down my thought process.
Bro, It is amazing but I would suggest you to look for another job. In my office in Bangalore, we watch on TV and screen in cafeteria leaving the work aside although some meetings have to be attended.
Although I appreciate the honesty about the company in this blog, my issue is almost every big company behaves in the same way. FAANG is not the absolute best, it is just best option among the worst.
The only other option is to work at a small startup or start your own company but that is a different ballgame and requires extreme levels of grind.
My personal opinion is to impose restrictions only when healthcare system is over-burdened (e.g. 50-60% occupancy rates in hospitals). Other than that, I am fine with biannual shots and mask but no other restrictions.
My issue is when the display it self is 1440p. Then you are stuck with downscaling 4k 60 fps (because 4k 120 is too much for PS as well as required HDMI 2.1) or upscaling 1080p 120fps which doesn't look that great.
I feel the same is true for me as well. I wasn't aware of this extension though. For now, what I do is if I see myself getting addicted to an app, I just uninstall/block it for 2-3 weeks. After that even if I install it back, the craving is mostly gone.
It does come back though in 3-4 months. Facebook was boring for me so never used it again after uninstalling.
Unpopular opinion - People keep on creating so many privacy focused platforms but general public doesn't seem to care. Seems like there is only like a small minority which cares about privacy.
I think it will ultimately boil down to 2-3 major payment gateways such as Stripe after initial chaotic 'every app trying to be force their own payment processor' phase
Yes, if they had to ban it they would have done it by now. I guess only heavy taxation on gains can be expected. Do people in US have to pay taxes on Crypto gains currently?
