Personally, it is very hard to focus on work when you don't get to interact with friends. Need to do something about that in addition to ways to keep myself entertained and safe.

I doubt we'll have a lockdown. Almost all the news coming out says that Omicron cases are milder, so despite the high infection rate governments might decide to not risk hurting public opinion by going into lockdown again. Part wishful thinking, for sure, but I'm still skeptical.

I’m also skeptical. Even if it escapes immunity, people treat it as a black and white thing, when immunity escape really means a spectrum of possibilities

Just two weeks to flatten the curve, no biggie.

You think it will be that fast. Almost everyone eligible will get infected in 2 weeks?

I think coolspot was jokingly referencing the initial response back in early 2020.

At the beginning of the lockdown here in 2020, we organized a weekly zoom with my friends. We are still meeting. We even meet more than before, because half of them live abroad.

How many people were/are "essential workers" for who lockdowns dont actually apply? Postal and package delivery workers? "Health Care adjacent" professions running stuff to nursing homes?

The recognition those people got last time amounted to extra overtime without pay and some signs and memes about how great they were for bringing us our shit. This time I suspect many of them won't fall for it.

I was in a work truck and kept rolling. I got nothing extra while others sat at home collecting checks.

Not sure why OP is concerned about not interacting with friends. That is a choice. Find an outdoor hobby and meet some real friends.

I build a big bunker with a lot of food, a carbon neutral diesel generator, a computer with Win 10 Home ( so i would be spied by MS), a lot of toilet paper and an Android phone. I will port the linux kernel to rust and rewrite X ( in rust of course) so the web browser will be the window server.

I bought some books and a 3D printer. With this I can implement creative ideas in my free time and I do not get bored so quickly.

Bit the bullet on a new MacBook Pro 14". Hopefully it can generate more money, than I've reluctantly departed with to get it.
