I agree on the “vibe” there. In the mid-90s when I was in high school I got access to a cm-2 to figure out how to transform sparse matrices using genetic algorithms on that massively parallel architecture. Good times!

Not surprising that the omni-shambles which is WBD (Warner Bros Discovery) continues to hemorrhage any remaining goodwill with the creative community. There is a mandate there to get short term cash flow up to service all the accumulated acquisition leverage and nothing else.

Apple stopped any significant innovation on the iPad platform many years ago. It is an also-ran cash cow for them not anything worthy of investment. I say this as someone who was once enthralled with the platform and it is sad. It’s hilarious they throw m2 grade processors in something used to watch Netflix and surf websites.

The market makers do understand why they are trading and understand it has nothing to do with fundamental value. That may be your reason for trading. They are there to rapidly and correctly assess short term supply and demand so they can extract compensation for providing liquidity. And that’s a good thing. A market made of heterogenous actors with different objectives and time scales is far more robust.

It’s interesting to me how much of the hostility to this drug has a moral dimension. I am quite fit for my middle age. It’s a relative superpower which confers a degree of status in this world. It’s not why I originally became fit 5 or so years ago but it’s something I increasingly notice or to be clear others notice and comment on.

I think the “fit” of the world get inherently uncomfortable that our relative social currency is being “devalued” if everyone can be like us with an “unearned” pill. And it comes out as hostility and skepticism.

I admit haven’t done much research on this particular topic. History should caution us that serious medication like this often has serious side effects which are not apparent early on. I get that. But unlike many others I don’t “hope” that happens like some kind of moral balancing. I get that reaction. In my gut I have that “I did it with willpower and lifestyle and sweat and these people shouldn’t just get it at CVS.” But that’s just the primate status brain talking.

Not that it impacts the outcome but I sincerely hope these drugs can improve people’s lives without significant negative problems. I can find my relative status elsewhere or better yet try to grow up past such impulses.

What alternative medications are people finding effective and smooth transitions for real ADHD users who can’t deal with this instability anymore?

Most Ivy League schools could eliminate most teams and most students/donors could care less. This isn't Duke or Michigan we are talking about.

MBS have a double whammy when rates rise. Not only are the mortgages yielding less relative to current rates but prepays decline so the duration extends. A lower relative rate for a longer time means a lower market price.

I think that's the case but wonder what the process is for something coming off the GRAS list. Could cause a big headache for a bunch of companies like Whole Earth Brands who have a lot of capital tied up in Erythritol.

Erythritol is allowed in food under the FDA GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) program. Curious if anyone with knowledge of that program has a view on whether that designation may be at risk which would require a lot more studies before Erythritol can be sold.

Also curious if anyone on front lines of retail has seen any impact on customer behavior yet out of this study.

Maybe in theory. The message I get from almost everyone at a regulated institution is Bloomberg, e-mail, or voice. When the SEC is on a warpath, compliance and legal departments don’t play with anything but the clearest black and white lines to optimize for the convenience of staff. It is frustrating because it imposes a monopoly tax on financial market participants to get a Bloomberg or be shut out of information flow which is death in markets. I’ve yet to find anyone I deal with who says hey find me on Symphony.

For equities that is true and most Bloomberg functionality can be replicated with Sat Interactive Brokers plus some data subscriptions. Doing fixed income manually without the data pre populated in Bloomberg is very painful. But yes, the chat is where the franchise is and recent SEC actions punishing any non compliant communications like texts or alternative messaging services with massive fines have only given that moat another decade at least of invulnerability.

It is actually easier to be superficial with spiritual practice when immersed in its culture. Plenty of “spiritual” practitioners are playing social status games, going through motions in a societally rewarded and expected manner, etc…
